How do we co-exist with fire on our lands? Members of the St. Vrain Forest Health Partnership, led by the Left Hand Watershed Center, contemplate this question in everything we do. This partnership is a shared stewardship effort in our St. Vrain Watershed working across boundaries to achieve a healthy and resilient watershed that can sustain wildfire and other natural disturbances while reducing risk to communities, keeping water supplies clean and reliable, and supporting diverse native flora and fauna.
We are fortunate to have a partnership formed by more than 100 community and stakeholder
representatives from state and local governments, national land management agencies, water and conservation districts, fire departments, and community members from across our work area.
With this desire for collaboration as our top priority, one of the most important ingredients for
success is the voice of the land owner and community resident: you!
If you are interested in this partnership, please come and participate in a community meeting on June 7, for Lyons, Button Rock, and Conifer Hill area residents, property managers, and land owners. Bring your neighbors and arrive early for snacks and conversation. The doors will open at 5pm at the Lyons Fire Protection District (details below), and our meeting will start at 5:30pm. We will discuss together options for forest management, risk mitigation, and community involvement. We will also give input on a priority area map focused on the Lyons area created with a team of fire, ecology, and management experts that incorporates community goals and values we have heard through surveys and workshops.
The more engaged we all are, the more possibilities we create for collaboration.
Please register; walk-ins will also be welcomed. See you there!
