Windows into Lyons, two art shows, and arts district

Lyons Arts & Humanities Commission put on a “dual-art show” = Diane Dandeneau was the artist doing the solo show at the Lyons Regional Library entitled, “Primal Wanderings.” The Town Hall, as usual, held the “locals art show,” with dozens of unique pieces reflecting the theme of “Abstraction – in other words.”

CD review: Greg Schochet, Amblin’ Man

Greg Schochet has released his first solo recording called “Amblin’ Man,” — Greg grew up listening to and influenced by his father’s record collection: Bob Dylan, The Band, Beatles, Stones etc. He later added his high school favorites AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Lenard Skynyrd and of course the Grateful Dead to his influences. “The Dead led me, like so many of my generation, to bluegrass and the mandolin,” he said.

Planet Bluegrass will be presenting this month arguably the best of the finest contemporary string bands, Punch Brothers. Led by multitalented musician Chris Thile who plays mandolin, bouzouki, mandola, banjo, viola, double bass, cello, piano, violin, guitar, sitar, tenor guitar, and has a wonderful voice.
