April is child abuse prevention month; virtual weekly talks (Boulder County)

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. From April-December 2021, CDHS reported 847 substantiated cases of child sexual abuse in Colorado. In Boulder County, it’s estimated that two new children are sexually abused every day.
GET EDUCATED – Blue Sky Bridge is conducting 30 minute virtual trainings to help educate adults on how to be aware of it, and how to “say the right words” with anatomically correct terms.

Foster Care: 68 per day age out, and only 23% graduate; how you can help

There are 400 foster-home youth in Colorado right now for whom there is no chance to reunite with their biological families. “Raise the Future” is a group that helps connect these youth with families, and support those relationships so that they last a lifetime (eg, support groups, coaching, respite care, and more)

Colorado kids, 18 years or younger, now can get 3 free behavioral health sessions

The program, called “I Matter,” is funded by the Colorado Department of Human Services, Office of Behavioral Health through a bipartisan legislative HOUSE BILL. The program provides up to 3 free behavioral health sessions for youth in Colorado and reimburses participating providers, which are licensed clinicians from agencies and independent contractors.
