Lyons Community Theater offers tips to prepare for a zombie Apocalypse
Get ready for an evening of laughter, thrills, and community spirit as Lyons Community Theater presents a lively new production just in time for Halloween! In collaboration with LEAF and leading into the Rave to the Grave party, the group will stage “10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse” by Don Zolidis on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. (doors open at 4 p.m.)
This witty, satirical comedy whisks the audience into a post-apocalyptic world where two quirky narrators—played by Aimee Kane and Altyn Legg—offer tongue-in-cheek advice to four brave survivors (Paige Perry, Deliliah Ruebush, Kenyon Waugh, and Sarah Vasel) as they navigate a landscape teeming with zombies. Adding to the hilarity are fan-favorite zombie performers Gil Sparks, Barney Dreistadt, and David Perry, with fresh talent Adam Torgerson joining the undead ensemble.
Behind the scenes, are more Lyons locals you may know — the production is helmed by David Perry as Director, Deliliah Ruebush as Assistant Director, with Kytriena Payseno-Saidman keeping things running smoothly as stage manager. Joseph Maynes handles lights and sound, while Shelly Gottschamer brings her expertise to costumes. The theater group also extends heartfelt thanks to Wendy Dreistadt, Chrystal DeCoster, and Patty McNichols for their invaluable support.
This family-friendly event offers plenty to enjoy beyond the stage—food trucks and concession stands will be on-site. Although the show is suitable for all ages, parents are advised that there is mild zombie-themed violence. All proceeds from the production will benefit LEAF. Note that tickets for the play and the Rave to the Grave event must be purchased separately; visit the theater’s website for details. And, the Rave is for adults only (21+). Theater patrons will exit the theater, and then re-enter the site for the Rave.
The Lyons Community Theater team is also gearing up for their next production, “Harvey” by Mary Chase, which will open on November 15, 2024, at the Planet Bluegrass’ Wildflower Pavilion. Rehearsals for both shows are currently underway at the Creative Lab, generously provided by Planet Bluegrass. As a festive finale to the year, the group will also stage a holiday production this December at the Wildflower Pavilion—stay tuned for more details, and opportunities to audition for that play!
Mark your calendars for an unforgettable night of humor, heart, and Halloween fun as Lyons Community Theater kicks off the spooky season with a bang!
