The St. Vrain TU Chapter has funded Lyons Elementary to bring this program into their 5th grade PE class. 2022 was our inaugural year and it was very successful! We are recruiting volunteers again in 2023 to help the Lyons PE instructor deliver the fun program to this year’s 5th graders.
Lyons Elementary is delivering this program during September- October PE class for 4 gym sessions, and culminating in a fishing day at the end of the session. There are 2 sessions per week on alternating days from 9:45 to 11:00 am that we are seeking volunteers to support. We need volunteers to help students with casting and other instruction. REGISTER.

SCHOOL TRACK currently closed to public “after hours” ? – several citizens complained about this, saying they pay tax dollars for it—the School principal replied to my inquiry that it was only a temporary thing, and that “ Our track is open to the community after school hours and during hours where we don’t have athletic activities/events.” == here is the statement that he posted on Facebook in response to the complaints:
Hello Lyons Community,
We want to apologize for the inconvenience caused by the gate being locked for a period of time this weekend. We understand how important it is for our community to have access to the track, especially on weekends and after school hours and it is our intent to allow community use and access.
The track is intended to be a shared space for everyone to enjoy, and we’re sorry that this wasn’t the case.
The fence was installed with safety and security as our highest priorities, ensuring our school remains a safe environment for students and community members alike.
We’re committed to keeping the track available for community use outside of school hours. Thank you to those who brought this to our attention. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you notice any issues in the future—we’re here to make sure things are right.
