Connect with Nature at the Library, September
NATURE JOURNALING
==WEEKLY WORKSHOP:
Lyons Library is starting our very own Nature Journaling Club! We’re kicking this off this month by meeting every Thursday from 11a.m. to 12:30p.m for a Nature Journaling Workshop. We’re gathering to watch a live drawing workshop over Zoom with John Muir Laws. All ages and experience levels are invited to learn tips and techniques to get your started or continue on your nature journaling journey. Please bring a journal or other drawing materials.
==MONTHLY CLUB:
In addition to this weekly workshop in September we are kicking off a monthly Nature Journaling Club. This club will meet on the third Thursday of the month at 11a.m. We will start at the library with a short video to spark your creativity, then head out into nature to explore and document the natural beauty of Lyons. Grab a journal and some drawing materials and join us!
MONTHLY, AFTERNOON ART:
On Monday the 9th, at 3p.m., we’re offering our first Afternoon Art session. This will be a monthly creative escape at the library! This month we are creating a disco ball pencil holder with recycled CDs. This event is for all ages but children under the age of eight must be accompanied by an adult. All supplies are provided but space is limited so please RSVP to secure your spot.
FALL IN THE FOOTHILLS
We transition into fall at the end of the month with Fall in the Foothills, hosted by Boulder County Parks and Open Space. This presentation includes photo slides and activities to virtually explore the vibrant fall colors of our area. We’ll help you discover scenic picnic areas and beautiful hikes that show off the best of Autumn in Colorado. Join us September 24, at 6:30 p.m.
TWEEN BOOK TO MOVIE CLUB
The start of a new school year brings a new twist on our Tween Book Club. This fall we are hosting a Tween Book-to-Movie Club. Each month we will read a book, then come together for a short discussion and watch the film adaptation. We’ll enjoy enriching activities and snacks while debating the pros and cons of Book vs. Movie.
In September, we are reading “Shiloh” by Phyllis Reynolds Naylorand, and watching the 1996 movie adaptation. Stop by the library to pick up a copy of the book ahead of our meeting, which is on Tuesday the 24th.
TEEN LASER TAG & MOVIE NIGHT
Our own Teen Advisory Group is hosting a Laser Tag and Movie Night on Friday the 27th. Tweens and teens grades 6-12 are invited to join us from 6-8p.m. to play laser tag, eat pizza and watch a movie. Please RSVP to let us know you’re coming.
