After a brief hiatus, CHUBurger, the beloved burger and fast-casual concept restaurant made a welcome return on December 21, 2023. After launching in 2013 and expanding to three locations from Longmont to Denver, the restaurant was forced to close during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the restaurant is making a comeback with a fresh perspective, original tastes, and a culinary-driven leadership team. The fresh-from-farm “Bonewagon” burger food truck started in 2011, and expanded, due to its popularity, to a casual restaurant in 2013. The mobile kitchen concept is back.
With a strategic partnership alongside the local pickleball club, 3rd Shot Pickleball, CHUBurger has found its perfect recipe for revival. The restaurant concept will be outfitted as a permanent mobile kitchen affixed to 3rd Shot Pickleball’s facility and serve as a center for the club’s social area. The concept will operate under the Oskar Blues Fooderies leadership team and brought to life by their Operating Partner, Mike Gleason. (co-owner is Lyons’ Dale Katechis).
In addition to the signature burgers and sandwiches, the menu will feature Fooderies-inspired additions such as loaded fries, cheese curds, and buffalo wings. Fans will be pleased to find familiar favorites on the menu including the BERKburger, Crispy Clucker, and, of course, the famous CHUBurger — Our signature burger with smoked cheese, chopped pickles in our special CHUB sauce, lettuce, and tomato on a challah bun. $11.
Open 7 days a week, 6 a.m. – 10 p.m.; 20 Bowden St., west of Main St., off of N. Pratt, Longmont / See their Facebook page for the menu; or WEB PAGE
Private Practice Psychotherapy
Kim Hinzy, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
1/12/24: I’m a Lyons resident and Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I recently opened a private psychotherapy practice, www.sunlightthroughthetrees.com, offering virtual sessions, and walk/talk/nature-based therapy, and soon will offer office-based sessions in Boulder and Lyons. My focus is supporting people with grief/loss, life transitions, anxiety, and stress reduction, and fostering healthy relationships, including the parent/young child relationship. I incorporate nature, play, experiential learning, and traditional psychotherapeutic practices to support growth, self-discovery, and healing. I accept insurance (not Medicaid) and can offer a sliding fee scale for select clients.

PIANOS FOR HUMANITY, Intersection of Hwy 36 & 66
We have a first-class piano man who has opened a store in the Lyons area. Pianos for Humanity is a used Piano warehouse at the doorway to Lyons. They say that they offer the largest selection of good (used) pianos in Northern Colorado. They have rows and rows of upright pianos, and, as you can see in the photo, some quality grand pianos. Prices start at $100, plus delivery.
“As a matter of fact: if you Google my (Stage) name ‘Rockinjay,’ the Goog tells you right away that I AM the PIANO MAN,” says owner Jay Wyshak “and that’s because, nobody can do what I can do with a piano, nobody. I have a 5 ★ rating with the Goog. I move and tune, shine and clean, fix and adjust pianos of all sorts.”
Jay invites locals an invitation to stop by and visit his “cute store and have fun as you get to see and hear a bunch of pianos because I personally will play for you and light you up, I promise.”
Jay has been in the business of flipping used pianos since 2019. He is well established as a great piano source in Colorado, and has been interviewed by Dan Daru, who is the comedic news man on the FOX morning news show.

OSKAR BLUES & GRILL – live bands/changes
Oskar Blues has a new schedule for the new year. They will offer live music only one weekend night, and have only two more Sunday afternoon concerts left. Check their Facebook page for the current week’s lineup.==== It seems like now is not the time to cut back on music. All the outdoor venues are closed, and I would think they’d get a big crowd stopping by. Thanks to Dave McIntyre for the amazing line-up of acts that he scheduled during the summer of 2023.
SPIRIT HOUND DISTILLERY – construction started

Mike Yeager announced in December that he is closing the LYONS branch of his upholstery shop (and was selling some equipment, like sewing machines and samples books, and some sample chairs). They are now located in Bloomfield, and doing well there. He’s kept his employees (who he says preferred to live elsewhere – we are assuming because of the cost of living).
