I don’t even have to write any words to make this page interesting… just insert a bunch of the great photographs taken on New Year’s Day for the 15th Annual Polar Plunge… but let’s add a few details:
A large group of spectators, and even more “plungers” attended the event at the Black Bear Hole (Lyons’ park) off Highway 36/Ute Highway, in Lyons. The temperatures were in the 40’s degrees, and the rapid waters around the (kayaking) water features kept the river’s “hole” free from ice.
This year’s plunge was in honor of Greg Schrodt, who passed away in November, and was a long-time plunger. Coordinators Jason Stillman jumped, but Harry Kellogg was on crutches. He recalled happy memories of his co-jumper Stevie LaRue, who passed away in June 2023. (click the links to see their Obituaries). I know they were attending the Polar Plunge in spirit!
