Jogathon brings pride, health,… and prizes to our youth

Pizza 66 held a free pizza party for Mrs. Pierce’s 3rd Grade Class from LES, who raised the MOST money of any classroom in school — $10,000. The kids signed a giant Thank You poster for the restaurant folks, who said it was an “honor and privledge to serve them.”

On Friday, October 27 Lyons elementary school kids participated in the Annual “Pie in the Face, and prize drawing, and raffle” in the school gym. Grades Pre-K through 2nd grade participated first, and then the 3rd to 5th grades jumped in. River Kie plastered the face of school Principal Andrew Moore with a whipped cream filled sponge/pie, who happily rose to the occasion with a laugh and smile.
Lyons Elementary School kids started their exercise regime by knocking on the doors of many dozens of homes in Lyons, and even in Pinewood Springs, asking for donations toward their “walk” with Pledge envelopes. Then they raced around the track at the school, joined by their principal and more. This year’s theme was “Wild West Jogathon” and took place Friday, September 22, 2023. New this year was an online platform through www.MyBooster.com where donors could track their sponsored student’s online donations. People could register and create their own donor page.
The Jogathon fundraiser raised $90,000 this year — their biggest one ever! It helps support many of our school’s educational programming, all the field trips, our growing STEM lab, playground equipment, tech and much much more!
Big thanks to the supporting partners, in-kind donors, and Jogathon Committee (Tory Oakland, Kristen Hill Shelton, Tania Orlow, Jennifer Lane Ward and Chastidee Bolkovatz) who make this event happen; and Tory & Christine Oakland who rounded up great prizes.
