Art & book programs draw crowds, October 2023
“The Bed Who Ate the Nightstand” book signing

It was an interactive event at the Lyons library when Shauna Lee presented her children’s book “The Bed Who Ate the Nightstand.” In the Community Room of the Lyons Regional Library, there was a cozy bed, with stuffed animals, and blankets on the floor to spread out on. The packed house included both adults and kids, who enjoyed not only the book, but the sample foods and song that are part of the storybook. Those who bought the book took home a free tin of “la creme” butter.

4th Quarter Art Show Opening

On a lovely fall evening, with temperatures around 70 degrees, and a setting sun, people sauntered between the town library and town hall to see two delightful exhibitions of local art. The town hall one is themed, “What all is out / up / over there?” and the library one focused on nature… mainly landscapes and flowers.
The official opening ceremony of the 4th Quarter tandem art show was presented by Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission at the library. Local artists showing their work at the library, Carol Groves and Ruth Wilson, were introduced and an overview of LAHC programs was given. During the social hour, Margot Krimmel played delightful musical pieces on her harp, and YA YA Farm & Orchard’s fresh apple cider and donuts were served. (no liquor was served due to a problem with the date of the liquor license).
In addition, there was a tribute to local artist and volunteer Priscilla Cohan, who had just passed away. People had an opportunity to sign cards, with their condolences to the family.
The art work can be seen during normal “open” business hours. — See our previous ARTICLE which has photos of the artists and samples of their art work.
