“Silver Linings” 4th Quarter Art Show opens October 18th
The upcoming Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission (LAHC) Library Art Show, “Silver Linings Retrospective,” features two diligent and accomplished local artists whose lifelong dedication and talents are deserving of recognition.
Ruth Eisenach Wilson, originally from Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, and Carol Groves, hailing from Dearborn, Michigan, not only have painting and teaching in common, they’ve both raised music-centric children, Blair Wilson and KC Groves, who each reside in the area and are the reason these gals found their way to Lyons a number of years ago.
The tandem opening reception of their dual show and the LAHC’s Town Hall Art Show will be held October 18th, 5:30 to 7 p.m., starting at the Lyons Regional Library (451 4th Avenue in Lyons) and shifting to Town Hall (432 5th Avenue), a short stroll down the block, after brief announcements and introductions around 6 p.m. in the Library’s Community Room.
In addition to their display of largely watercolor paintings, at the library there will be apple cider and donuts, fresh from nearby YA YA Farm and Orchard, and music by Celtic harpist Margot Krimmel of Boulder. Wine and Mead offerings will also be on hand with an appreciated donation to LAHC, the Town of Lyons commission that helps support and celebrate the arts of all ilk, all over town, thanks predominantly to the Lyons Community Foundation’s annual financial support, and also from various grants plus greatly appreciated contributions from individuals and local businesses. Local food and music purveyors at these events are paid a stipend by the LAHC for their provisions.

STILL TIME to submit your art work to the show —- The LAHC’s fourth quarter Town Hall Art Show is themed, “What all is out / up / over there?” Area artists of all ages and abilities are encouraged to deliver up to five pieces of ready-to-wall-hang art to the Shirley F. Johnson Council Chamber at Town Hall between 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday October 13th. This themed work will be viewable when the room is available during the facility’s hours of operations through January 12th when all work must be picked up between 5 and 7 p.m..
The “Silver Linings Retrospective” will hang through January 10th, 2024. The next Tandem LAHC Art Shows’ Opening Reception on January 17th will showcase the work of local artist Android Jones at the Library and welcome all area artists to creatively respond to the themed “Home Grown” Town Hall Art Show, delivery of which is slated for January 12th, 5 to 7 p.m.
