CONCERTS IN THE PARK – every Wednesday in July at 6:30p.m. See below list.
July 21 – 30, 2023 == Cheyenne Frontier Days is an outdoor rodeo and western celebration in the United States, held annually since 1897 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It bills itself as the “World’s Largest Outdoor Rodeo and Western Celebration.” The event, claimed to be one of the largest of its kind in the world, draws nearly 200,000 annually. And, it has 3,000 volunteers. www.CFDrodeo.com
July 29, 1:00 p.m. join local author and photographer Dawn Wilson as she shares her latest published work, 100 Things To Do In Estes Park Before You Die. She will discuss the book, its contents, and how it came to be, from idea to publication. The program will take place in the Estes Park Museum Meeting Room. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. This program is free and open to the public. Copies of the book will be for sale and the author will sign all purchased copies.
July 29, 2 – 10 p.m., Fundraiser for Lyons dog and wolf rescue sanctuary. — Just 4 Jacks –The Rock Garden at A-Lodge. See ARTICLE. music and pizza.
July 29, 7 p.m. – Opera in the Park 2023 at the Boulder Bandshell, (July 30th raindate)– scenes from Wagner’s iconic Der Ring. We invite you and your audience to join us for a spellbinding night of music featuring gods, giants, dwarfs, water maidens and Valkyries at the foot of our majestic Flatirons. Music lovers of all ages will appreciate Wagner as the original “Wall of Sound.” tickets .
July 29 “Cobbles of Time,” 9 a.m.-1 p.m.= Near Nederland.=All ages welcome. =The story of Glacial Lake Devlin and evidence of its catastrophic demise is a fascinating and little-known chapter in the geologic history of Caribou Ranch. Join volunteer naturalists on this 4.5-mile moderate hike to learn about the evidence firsthand. We will also learn about some of the oldest rocks in the area and the valuable minerals that formed and were mined nearby.

July 30 – International Day of Friendship was designated by the United Nations General Assembly (U.N.). On July 30, we step back and get thankful for these relationships worldwide, as they promote and encourage peace, happiness, and unity. — See our POEM on 7/27 about Friendship with other Women, and our Moms, and Aging.
August 2023
August 1 COLORADO DAY ==join the History Colorado Center for a multi-sensory musical experience with a Candlelight concert featuring Colorado’s own Range Ensemble. The string quartet will be playing Centennial State favorites like John Denver’s Rocky Mountain High and Jimmy Buffett’s A Mile High in Denver.== Click for FULL details of all events and to Get your tickets today! == Their subsidiary museums throughout the state are also free and have special programs. August 1, 6 p.m. – National Night Out – Boulder County has activities in 4 towns, including Lyons (Bohn Park). See first responder equipment first hand; demonstrations; talk to first responders; K-9 (dogs); enjoy snacks and company. The event is popular with the kids.
August 3, 4-6p.m. – Mental Health Partners celebration 60 year anniversary. RSVP for party by July 20th. (See 7/30 above for details)
August 4 – Lyons Library: Deadline to hand in your BINGO card, listing the books that you read this summer for the Summer Reading event open to all ages. You can get a free coffee coupon and be entered in a contest.
August 5 & 6, art show, tie-dye, vendors, music at Lyons’ Metamorphosis Tattoo and Piercing Studio.
August 5, 9a.m. – 3 p.m. Lyons (1) Local Art Fair (2) Crapfest. — Todd & Becky Jacobson put this on every year in their backyard. Casual and fun. Surprise finds of “junkyard” stuff, and new artists hoping to be discovered by you== 2136 Apple Valley Rd
August 5, 9 a.m. – 2p.m., Hilltop Guild, Allenspark, Craft Fair, lots of handicrafts. located at 18720 Highway 7 south of Allenspark en route to Lyons. Bright outdoor flags will mark the location.
August 6, 1-4p.m. Oskar Blues in LONGMONT. celebrate Jerry Garcia’s birthday August 6. Shakedown Street vendor market from 1pm-4pm and Crick Wooder will hit the stage at 4pm. Misfits Pizza food truck on site from 1pm-7pm. Free Event.
August 7- Lyons Board of Trustee meeting at 7pm, open to all
August 8, 5-7p.m., Plume & Farrow – Medicinal Garden Walk, Lyons – MORE INFO
August 9 **FINAL** normally scheduled Concert in the Park (in case of bad weather, some concerts may be re-scheduled for late August) – thanks to LCF!
August 10, 5-10 p.m. Can’d Aid – Oskar Blues DENVER on 1624 Market Street = Can’d Aid is turning 10! Celebrate with us with bluegrass, brews, and giving back. The concert will feature Can’d Aid TUNES AmbassadorsSongs From the Road Band and Arthur Hancock ===We’ll also be kicking off the evening by building bikes, skateboards and assembling art kits for underserved Denver-area youth. August 11, 12, 13 – Planet Bluegrass’ FOLKS FESTIVAL. See our Article next week 8/3/23.
August 12, 10 a.m. (8 hr) “Bizarre Cat Bazaar” in Nederland – Enjoy performers, dancers, tribal drumming-dancing, a cat costume contest first prize $500; and Los Cheesies headlining
August 14 – Lyons Lions Club 29th annual golf tournament being, at Lake Valley Golf Club. This fundraiser supports our causes for the year. Nationally we support the Lions Club International in projects such as Seeing Eye Dogs, Cornea transplants and the Rocky Mountain Eye Bank, as well as disaster relief. Locally, along with our youth Leo Club, we support community projects, give scholarships, collect eye glasses and hearing aids to name a few. (Sponsors are needed for prizes and more. And players can sign up to play the game.)
August 16 – Concert in Park RESCHEDULE
August 16, 7-8:30 p.m. – “I’m Not a Savage” – Lakota Performers in Europe. Nederland Mining Museum — Minimum age 12 with accompanying adult. REGISTER. Boulder County Open Space.
August 18, 9-11 a.m., Senior Walk, Boulder County Open Space = Join us for a moderate-easy hike above Boulder for a general nature hike. We will use our senses to experience our environment. We will also explore how fire changes our landscapes over time. Expect uneven terrain and approximately 200 feet of elevation gain. See BoCo Tours ARTICLE 7/27/23, or go to their web site.
August 18 – 19 – 20 = Music and Dinner in the Dark, Boulder’s Dairy Center. The Blind Cafe Orchestra featuring the Richie Flores Project – The Experience is an award-winning positive social change pop-up dinner, social impact discussion & intimate live music performances held in 100% darkness, no blindfolds! August 25, 5 p.m. “Murder at the Mansion” — historic Hover House, Longmont
August 25 – Astronomy Talk through Boulder County Parks & Open Spaces – located near Lyons – Explore more about the many faces of the brightest item in our night sky, the moon. Learn why there are phases of the moon, what a Blue Moon is, and more! Join us afterward for stargazing with telescopes provided by the Longmont Astronomical Society. REGISTER.
August 27, 2 – 7 p.m. “Hootenanny” This family-friendly event, a fundraiser for LCF and LEAF, is the perfect way to close out Summer in Lyons! at River Bend –live music, dance performances, kids’ activities, a silent auction, food trucks, and the much-loved rubber ducky race. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
Colorado Music Festival –
https://coloradomusicfestival.org – an annual classical music festival in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. concerts are held in beautiful and historic Chautauqua Auditorium. June 29 to August 2, 2023.

LYONS Quarterly ART SHOW – 3rd Quarter 2023 (July 12 – October 6) – Town Hall & Library: Art Show sponsored by LAHC — The Library art show features a solo artist. — The Town Hall features local residents’ art.
Lyons (history) Redstone Museum Open on weekends in May for “May Historical Preservation” Month. Open June 1 to October 1 every day = 303-823-5271. In the winter, call to make an appointment for research that can’t wait till summer.
RMNP *FREE* 2023 dates are: January 16, April 22, August 4, September 23, November 11. Entrance fee is waived but some dates still request a timed entry reservation permit online beforehand, May to October. Each is a public “holiday” related to the parks. — Colorado state parks and forests also occasionally offer “free days.”
BINGO – (1.) Longmont Bingo Hall, Longmont, every Sunday – funds go to the Middle/High School equipment (located behind Wendy’s on Main Street) (2.)
