NOTE: We focus on events in Lyons. We add a few special events outside of Lyons, but, in general, do not provide the LINKS, as they are usually big enough to be well-publicized all over the web.

May 25 – ****last day of school — Let’s PARTY!**** =======3:30 pm to 5:30pm – LYONS – School’s Out! Summer Kick Off Party – for school-aged kiddos (elementary school), and their parents, at Lyons Dairy Bar & Thor’s Pet Palace: 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Free! — Face paintings, sidewalk chalk art, fairy hair (fee$), coloring contest, balloons (fee$), reptile viewing, beanie babies, and more! ========For Pinewood/Estes kids, It’s the Last Day of School! Join us at the ESTES PK library to celebrate! Come get a free book by signing up for the Summer Reading Program, enjoy some free pizza and snacks, make art and play Just Dance on our Wii. A Tween / Teen Summer Reading Program event. REGISTER==ok to just show up if you are reading this too late!
May 25, 11 a.m. Lyons Library Book Club – The Busy Reader’s Book Club is our bi-monthly book club meeting. This month’s pick is Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister. Join us for cookies and tea in the Library Community Room. Copies of the book will be available at the circulation desk. REGISTER.
May 26 – Happy Hour at the Boulder Museum, as part of their “BEER HERE!” summer exhibit. – this day features Oskar Blues! Takes place in gallery, includes talks, tasting, snacks, and more. Fee.

May 27 – start of LYONS SUMMER READING PROGRAM for all ages: The program runs through August 4th. Check their website or come in to library and pick up your BINGO card and get started reading. prizes.

May 27, 9a.m. – 3 p.m. Annual ‘rocky mountain’ Plant Sale, fundraiser for Lyons’ Rocky Mt Botanic Gardens. For more information, go to: www.rmbg.org
May 29 – MEMORIAL DAY – Celebrate our military! — remember federal and local government offices will be closed. = Join the 3-day Boulder Creek Festival in Boulder, Boulder Creek Path // the Estes Park 3-day Arts Market in downtown Bond Park // Longmont’s American Legion Post 32 hosts 3 wreath ceremonies and presentations starting at 9 a.m. Monday – concluding with a flag ceremony at the American Legion Post 32, 315 S. Bowen St. // Denver: May 26-29, 4 day weekend with 4 stages, live music, free.
May 29 – Bolder Boulder—the annual 10-kilometer Memorial Day race – the largest Memorial Day Tribute in the U.S. The ceremony honors all of those who have given their life in military service to our country.
May 30, (repeat weekly) – FREE weekly YOGA in Bohn Park, by Branson Andres.
May 31, 6:30 p.m., Boulder Bookstore: Lyons’ John Gierach will speak about and sign his new book, All the Time in the World, on Wednesday. This is a FREE event, but registration is required. Register HERE
May 31, 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., Lyons library community room — Big Event! Find out all the COMMUNITY RESOURCES available to residents of Boulder County. Includes health/wellness, and recreation resources. (snacks, and giveaways)
JUNE 2023
June 2, 10 a.m., Lyons library: Beginners drawing class (weekly thru the summer) by local popular artist Anita Miller = class & waiting list are full.
June 2, or 3, or 4th – Rattlesnake Avoidance Classes – valuable training in Lyons at Stone Canyon Kennels on June 2nd – 4th 2023 with appointments available between 9am – 6pm. Please e-mail Sarah at rattlesnakeavoidance@gmail.com to register or for more information.
June 3 Annual Bee Festival – Featuring BETHYLOVELIGHT / Buddha Bomb Tribute / Miraja / and Brigitte Mars, natural herbs.== 11 speakers./ Herb Walks./ Live Painting./ 2 food trucks./ 13 “Eco-booths” / Costume contest at 3 p.m. — See Let It Be Honey & More business page or Facebook page, or stop by, for more information.
June 4, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Bohn Park, – Annual Town of Lyons Artisan Festival. = Local artisans will be selling creative arts, jewelry, wearables, and more! This event will be held in conjunction with the Lyons Community Foundation Grillin’ and Chillin’ BBQ and cook-off. Enjoy live entertainment by Blue Canyon Boys between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., root beer floats, good food, and locally crafted art! This event is outdoors, remember to bring cash in case of intermittent issues with wifi and cell service. Free parking ACROSS the street. INFO.
June 5, 7 p.m. Town of Lyons, Board of Trustees meeting, open to all.
June 13, 6:30 p.m. – 2nd of 4 part series: Wild Mind/Sacred Heart = Summer: Water, Innocence, and Embodiment, at Library Community Room = Join local authors, Niki Dewart and Elizabeth Marglin, for the second of four seasonal gatherings in the Wild Mind/Sacred Heart: A Year with The Wild & Sacred Feminine Deck series dedicated to exploring the deep feminine.
June 15 – Pajama Storytime and Stuffie Sleepover – see library for details
June 17, 9a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, annual Garden Tour. – fundraiser – self-guided walking tour of 10 wonderful home gardens in Lyons. Buy tickets. See our Article June 1st.

June 23 & 24 – in Hugo, CO – June 23 and 24, annual Colorado Championship Ranch Rodeo where you can cheer for your favorite working ranch cowboys, including the infamous 6666 Ranch Rodeo team known by “Yellowstone” fans, as they compete for the title of champion. Following the rodeo, Texas country singer- Randall King. See real working ranch cowboys from throughout the region . The town of 787 people is located SE of Denver, off US40.

June 28, 10:30 a.m. – for kids of all ages, at the library: A crew from Lyons Fire Protection District will read us stories, show us an emergency vehicle, and teach us how they work together as a team! See LIBRARY for details.

MainStage Brewing has brought back live bands on Thurs., Friday and Saturday through September ===and A-Lodge Rock Garden now has music every Friday night for the summer. === starting Memorial Day weekend, Oskar Blues live music will be starting at 8p.m. (not 7p.m.) – Also their Bluegrass jam/pick is now at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays; and it is upstairs (not downstairs), lead by KC Groves and Eric Thorin. == Diner bar has Sunday “blues jams”. And, MainStage has Thursday “bluegrass,” but it’s not a “jam.”

LYONS Quarterly ART SHOW – 2nd Quarter 2023 (April 12 – July 12) – Town Hall & Library: Art Show sponsored by LAHC — The Library art show features a solo artist. — The Town Hall features local residents’ art.
Lyons (history) Redstone Museum Open on weekends in May for “May Historical Preservation” Month. Open June 1 to October 1 every day = 303-823-5271. Call to make an appointment for research that can’t wait till summer.
RMNP *FREE* 2023 dates are: January 16, April 22, August 4, September 23, November 11. Entrance fee is waived but some still request a timed entry reservation permit online beforehand, May to October. Each is a public “holiday” related to the parks.
