Mailbag: LEAF not moving forward with purchase of Main St building
Good morning,
I am writing with a brief but important update.
You may be aware that LEAF recently sought to purchase a building in Lyons. It would have provided more space for our work and for the community to use, and it would have been an owned asset.
Unfortunately, we were not able to successfully navigate the due diligence and details that accompany such an important transaction, and so we will not be moving forward with the purchase. While this is a disappointment, we believe this opportunity simply was not “the one.” Our entire leadership team only wants the absolute best for the community we serve and so we will wait a little bit longer for “the one.”
Purchasing a building also meant we were no longer pursuing the Brown Shed that the Town of Lyons had generously offered for our use. Although LEAF is going on a different path, our partnership and friendship with the Town of Lyons remains positive and strong. And our Brown Shed project efforts yielded some unexpected fruit: Dreaming about the excellent facility we would create there helped us envision the kinds of bright possibilities that are within our reach!
LEAF still needs a home of its own, and we hope to share good news with you soon. For now, we thank you for your support – your encouragement and trust, financial gifts, volunteered hours, and more.
As always, please reach out if you would like to talk. We Are Here, and bright, bright times are ahead!
My very best, Lory Barton, Executive Director
PS – Summer is typically a slow giving season for nonprofits, but the needs do not recede. Please consider giving a gift today if you can!
