Celebrating in Lyons (photo Spread 4/23)

Easter Celebration
The Higher Ministry brought back the annual Easter Celebration on the Planet Bluegrass grounds on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023. The weather was sparkling great!
Pastor Sam and wife Mindy Tallent said: “Thank you to everyone who participated in our Easter Celebration at Planet Bluegrass. We are especially grateful to Craig Ferguson and Zach Tucker for opening up the grounds to us.
Thank you to all who ran the music program, including the Song Circle for the creative kids’ time; to those who donated candy in plastic eggs; and to the Lyons Fire Protection District for coordinating a grand egg hunt.”

LAHC 2nd Quarter Art Show
The 2nd quarter Art Show, sponsored by Lyons Arts & Humanities Commission, had its Opening on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Linda Backup is the solo exhibitor at the Lyons library. (We will have an article on the artist’s background and the art that is on display in the coming weeks).
As a bonus, the commission was able to bring a mock up of the Lavern Johnson Legacy Sculpture clay model ~ by Christine Knapp ~ local bronze sculptor.
Linda Backup had done a painting of LaVern a few years ago, which hangs in the Redstone Museum. For the Art Opening, it was brought to the library to include in the art display.

UKRAINIAN FAMILY now settled in Longmont – Robyn Sloan (Lyons) has been helping a Ukrainian family of five get settled over the past several year – Oleg came to Lyons last May with a local sponsor, Inna came in September, Diana in October, Zhenya in December, and Max in January. It’s been a year of constant change for them.
It has all come to a climax this past weekend – Robyn wrote on Facebook/Lyons Happenings last Sunday, April 16: “Happy Orthodox Easter! Our Ukrainian family moved from their 2 bedroom apartment in Longmont after 6 months to a 3 bedroom house. (The 2 bathrooms are the best part!) Moving day was yesterday but Inna (Andrzhievskaya) still managed to put everything away and cook a wonderful Ukrainian dinner. All 5 family members are working full time now, and Inna and Diana still clean on weekends in Lyons.”
