Poet’s Corner: St. Vrain Creek (National Poetry Month)

St. Vrain Creek
It is hard to mimic the comfort of the womb, yet nature takes the challenge in the winding shores of the St. Vrain Creek.
The water sways in rhythmic movement first rising, then rocking.
Soft muted sounds whisper assurances. Cool water caresses bare skin with feather like sensations.
Painted above is a magnificent portrait, one of vast brilliant blue skies interrupted by white puffs of fanciful clouds.
Each breeze offers a gift of natural fragrance.
Terra parts, then snakes, separating the water’s edge by twin hills covered with lofty trees and squat bushes.
Wild flowers bow and blush in pastel colors.
Small waterfalls complement the waterway, playing a soft symphony to those who rest on her shores.
Birds soar lazily above, while minnows swim playfully below.
Nature’s gift of gentle peace resides here.
