Poet’s Corner: Words (National Poetry Month)

Words
There is an almost indescribable joy in the act of writing poetry
A simple yet dizzyingly complex pleasure in crafting word paintings
Finding each of our words as if they were lost treasure to then pour them onto paper
Our brains surprising us with the clarity of their broad vision and vivid imagery
Poetry is the gift of finding words for the heart’s longings and for its wounding’s
It gives voice to the deep sorrows and pain suffered in the name of loving
Read aloud Poetry may say those things that conversation is unable to express
Painting bold images across the inner eye of its audience each image pulsing with truth
To write poetry is to invite others into the most sacred sanctuary of our secret souls
Pain, joy, hurt, rage, fear, loss, hopes, beginnings, are all part of poetry’s woof and weave
A cornucopia of imagery crafted to imbue its listeners with our intimate truth
Freedom is a gift of poetry too, the freedom to share your heart and soul with others
Other poet’s, whose hearts, minds, and spirits have embarked upon their own solitary paths
Each sharing with courage a great love, an epic journey with the great gift that is Poetry!
