Events happening during National Poetry Month (Front Range)
EVERY WEEK the Lyons Recorder will have a LYONS! POET’s piece published! == REMEMBER — If one poem doesn’t tickle your fancy, please try another, and another… make it a fun adventure!

In recognition of National Poetry Month, the largest literary celebration in the world, these Front Range organizations are sharing poetry offerings with the public. We hope to connect the Lyons community with poems that will expand their horizons and, perhaps, introduce them to a new love for poetry.
On Monday, April 3rd, local artist Coco Gordon had a talk and poetry writing workshop open to all residents. The Lyons Recorder will be publishing an article in April with some of the poems created. Write us if you have a local poetry group or your own poem that you would like to share with the Lyons public. Enjoy!

Prizes are involved. (The details have not been provided as of the publication of this article; please check with the librarian on duty… and take a BINGO card home!)

University of CO, Center for Humanities & Arts, English Department
In recognition of National Poetry Month, the Center for Humanities & the Arts (CHA) has put together a “Poem of the Day” project highlighting a new poet every day. We aim to share a new poem every day, spotlighting 30 poems curated by the English Department on our social media channels. Our hope is to create connections with the Boulder community and beyond through poetry. Below, you can find each poem that will be shared in April 2023.

Beyond Academia Free “Skool” (In-Person class)
Beyond Academia Free Skool (BAFS) is a nonprofit arts collective that hosts free poetry workshops and events. BAFS believes poetry is capable of transforming society into a more equitable space in which the voice of each member of the community is expressed, heard, and valued. Since 2018, BAFS has offered a free poetry workshop every second Sunday of the month at the Boulder Public Library from 2-6pm. Workshops include writing prompts, relevant lectures on theory, opportunities to grow one’s poetic performance, presentations on the work of notable poets and their value to contemporary poetry, opportunities to share one’s writing, as well as open discussion which builds community and strengthens the writer’s reflective practice. BAFS has served the community since 2012, and was incorporated under the fiscal sponsorship of the Boulder County Arts Alliance in 2017. All BAFS events are always 100% free to attend!
