February 24, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Community Blood Drive–On Friday there will be a community blood drive, at the Lyons Regional Library.—There is a nationwide shortage of blood and your donation is very much needed. February 24, 7-8:30 p.m. – Trivia Night at the Library– Join us for a night of trivia, community, and friendly competition! Assemble a team of up to 6 people, or register as an individual. REGISTER Fundraiser for Children’s Garden at Library
February 24 3-4:30 p.m.– Longmont Senior Ctr —Erma Bombeck –By Your Side—Erma Bombeck brought to American awareness the life of women whose lives otherwise felt invisible and taken for granted. Known for funny phrases (but true). March 7 – VOTING RULES CHANGE: Colorado Department of State issued a notice of rulemaking to consider permanent adoption of amended Elections rules. See ARTICLE.

March 11 – second annual Lucky Lyons St. Patrick’s Day Run. Grab your luckiest green running gear and have fun while supporting Lyons Community Foundation! There will be 5K and 10K races for your whole clan to enjoy. SIGN UP — Race-day Volunteer SIGN UP
March 11, 6:30 p.m. – “SILENT FILMS” at the library – Silent Film quadruple feature. The films will be accompanied with live piano by Rodney Sauer, a local musician specializing in the repertoire and history of silent film music. Back in the days before “talkies” added sound to the movies, silent films were shown with live musical accompaniment. Carrying on that tradition here in Lyons, our piano soloist, Sauer will bring these silent films to life. Free, but also a fundraiser for the Friends of the Library.
March 12, DAYLIGHT Savings Time Begins (and Oscars Award Night!)

March 17-19 Frozen Dead Guy Days (moved to Estes Park) Taking place over St. Patrick’s Day weekend on March 17-19, 2023, the reborn Frozen Dead Guy Days will feature live music and entertainment all weekend long, and will be held at the Estes Park Events Complex and The Stanley Hotel, with satellite events occurring around town. — Festival goers can expect the weird and wonderful happenings from years past, including coffin races, as well as plenty of new and elevated Estes twists, like a deadman fashion show, roaming freak show acts, a Bands and Bloodys Sunday Brunch and more — We will have a full ARTICLE published 3/2/23.
March 17-18 =a PLAY for CHILDREN. == Something special is coming to Lyons… a children’s theatre production telling the story of a young girl’s adventure into the dark forest, the fantastical challenges she faces, and the courage and wisdom she discovers is with her at all times… a Fairytale for all ages!== Showtimes and venue TBC soon. There will be a Friday night, Saturday matinee and Saturday evening show. Presented by DraMagic! NATIVE AMERICANS – the Longmont Museum has EIGHT programs over the next few months about Native Americans, include. Poetry, image in films, missing people, artists, and more. For full schedule and/or to sign up: CLICK HERE === Opened Jan 28th new exhibit — The Longmont Museum is excited to welcome nationally-recognized activist and artist Gregg Deal (Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe) as guest curator of a new contemporary Native American art exhibition presenting the work of locally and nationally-known Indigenous American artists. Duality: Contemporary Works by Indigenous Artists showcases unique and authentic artists who highlight the resurgence of contemporary art for Native people in recent years

LYONS Ice Rink, in LaVern Johnson Park: Mother Nature Dependent== The weather and colder temperatures look promising for ice skating over the next week. We need cold nights and pretty cold days to maintain the ice rink to skate on ! The town website has the hours for recreational skating and hockey skating along with the times the skate rentals will be open. Typically rentals are available on weekends.
Lyons (history) Redstone Museum Open June 1 to October 1 = 303-823-5271. Call to make an appointment for research that can’t wait till summer.
RMNP *FREE* 2023 dates are: January 16, April 22, August 4, September 23, November 11. Entrance fee is waived but some still request a timed entry reservation permit online beforehand, May to October. Each is a public “holiday” related to the parks.
BINGO – (1.) Longmont Bingo Hall, Longmont, every Sunday – funds go to the Middle/High School equipment (located behind Wendy’s on Main Street) (2.) Estes Park American Legion Hall, every Sunday 6 p.m. (located on Hwy 36); call before you go. You can also order a meal, and drinks.

COVID VACCINES: Visit “Where can I get vaccinated” – call 1-877-COVAXCO (1-877-268-2926) for vaccine information. As of 1/31/23 most COVID related assistance will be ended by the government. The vaccines are still covered by most insurance and Medicare.

Boulder County Aging serves lunch at the Lyons Walt Self Senior Center (Lyons seniors, ages 60 and up), located in the apartment complex Community Center next to the Post Office. You must call the day before by 1 p.m. to place an order (303) 441-1415. The menu is stated on the phone message. Donation of $3 suggested, or what you can afford. (Guests or those under 60 years of age pay flat rate of $12) ==Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – 12 noon – Walt Self/Senior Center (closed on holidays)
