The course meanders through old town Lyons, through Bohn Park’s trails, and finishes with a fast paved loop. It’s a super fun 50% trail / 50% paved course – you’re going to love it!
Dogs are welcome to join their owners in the 5k run!
10K RUN … OF WINTER WONDERLAND.
Start in Bohn Park (new location this year) and run through the Town of Lyons and along streets and gravel trails. You’ll climb up to the base of the foothills, then jump on a single track section of the Picture Rock trail. Once you hit Red Gulch Road, you’ll run alongside the St. Vrain river and a super cool red rock wall. Once you see the turnaround point, you can grab some refreshments or loop back towards town. On your way back, you’ll run through Bohn Park on gravel trails, then do the McConnell Rd loop for the home stretch to the finish line! It’s a fun course with lots of scenery, mixed-terrain, and a great vibe.
Dogs are welcome to join their owners in the 10k run!
50 K RUN
Rolling gravel roads, beautiful views of 14ers, and life-long memories with hundreds of your two-wheeled buddies
This course is a tour of some Boulder County’s best riding, including non-technical gravel riding and scenic views of the Rocky Mountains. There is enough rolling terrain to make the course challenging, but no major climbs. The aid station at Butter Ranch will warm you up and keep you fueled before the last stretch back to Lyons.
For those that ride AND run, this is the course that is the bike portion of the Run/Bike Combo.
100km Bike
“Snow, Gravel, Hills, and Thrills”
The 100km course is a challenging mixed terrain route including rolling gravel roads, classic Boulder County climbs, fast tarmac, and the infamous Rowena Trail. Rowena connects Lefthand Canyon to Sunshine Canyon and is a 2 mile stretch of historic gold mining railroad line. It is always covered with snow in the winter, so you’ll need to plan accordingly when choosing your bike set up. You will then descend a twisty gravel road and hit the end of the 1st timed section.
You will NOT be timed going down Sunshine Canyon or through the City of Boulder so take as much time as you want to get down the canyon safely and recover. The 2nd timed segment starts as you start up Linden, the 1st of two punchy climbs. Once you hit the top old Old Stage Rd, it’s pretty flat for the final 20 miles on the gravel roads back to Lyons. You’ll definitely earn your beer and hot chili after taking on this course!
10km Run / 50km Bike Combo
For an extra challenge, you can do the 10K run and 50K bike and compete to be the Ice Queen or Ice King!
There is time in between the run and ride to go to your car and change clothes. No worries about transition times – only your times on the courses will be counted.
