State has website for you to claim lost or unclaimed money or property

There’s a fast and easy way to search in Colorado for lost money and property.
“Gone are the days of looking for misplaced items in a lost-and-found bin. Simply log on to
colorado.findyourunclaimedproperty.com and get down to business searching for money or
property you have lost this past year,” Dave Young, Colorado State Treasurer and former President of the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators. “It only takes 30 seconds to check the State’s lost-and-found with the Great Colorado Payback.”
“Losing track of items is an unfortunate part of life for individuals, businesses, schools,
nonprofits, and municipalities,” Bianca Gardelli, Director of Colorado’s Unclaimed Property. “The
good news is that in Colorado, we have a fast and easy way for you to search for cash or other
items you may have lost track of.”
Last fiscal year, The Great Colorado Payback returned almost $50 million to nearly 55,000
claimants through our Unclaimed Property Division. To simplify the claims process, a pilot
program which proactively returns funds was started, returning $4.1 million to 13,700 rightful
owners without requiring additional paperwork for identification purposes. The average claim
last year was $1,832.

Hello, I have unclaimed money amounting to 97 dollars from a gift card that was given to my husband. The gift card was bought at Family Sports Golf Center 7/26/2014. The total amount was 200 dollars and I have the receipt , my husband used some of it with the remaining amount being the 97 dollars. Steve passed away and I found the gift card. I contacted the golf center and they turned the remaining money over to you.
Please tell me how I can apply and obtain the 97 dollars.
Thank you,
Juliana L. McClain, Steve’s wife
