Snowstang is back! with bus rides directly to the ski slopes

The Colorado Department of Transportation is launching its Snowstang bus service for the 2022-2023 ski season this weekend, December 17, 2022, providing a transit alternative to some of the state’s premier mountain resorts.
Beginning Saturday, and continuing through early spring (May), Snowstang is offering roundtrip express service to Arapahoe Basin, Copper Mountain, Loveland Ski Area, Steamboat Springs/Howelsen Hill and, new this year, Breckenridge.
“We’re thrilled to bring back our popular Snowstang service for a third season, providing a convenient, affordable, and comfortable transportation option for people who want to enjoy our resorts but want an alternative to driving,” said CDOT’s Division of Transit and Rail Director Amber Blake. “Partnering with each resort allows us to remove the hassles of parking and to drop-off passengers at a prime location near the lifts.”
Snowstang operates every Saturday and Sunday (except Christmas Day) and Monday holidays through early May 2023. The service also will offer a special two-day, Saturday and Monday, Christmas weekend option to Steamboat Springs. All routes board at Denver’s Union Station and the Denver Federal Center in Lakewood. And, THIS YEAR we have added a new passenger stop at Wooly Mammoth Park-N-Ride near the Hogback this season, providing a location for carpoolers and others to leave their vehicles at a convenient location next to Interstate 70 at the Morrison/Red Rocks exit. It is located at 18560 U.S. 40, Golden, CO 80401.
All roundtrip tickets are $25.00, except for Steamboat Springs, which are $40.00. Additional discounts are available for seniors. Children ages 2 to 11 ride for $12.50 with a full-fare paying adult.
Snowstang coaches carry 51 passengers, are climate controlled, have Wi-Fi, a restroom, and USB and power outlets. To purchase tickets and view schedules and routes, visit www.ridebustang.com or download the Bustang® mobile app, JustRide Bustang, for iOS or Android. The service initially launched in December 2019. It was suspended in March 2020 due to the pandemic.

*NEW* – Town of Breckenridge
“The Town of Breckenridge is thrilled to launch this brand-new partnership with Snowstang and provide a new, environmentally friendly transportation option for Front Range visitors to come ski and ride at Breckenridge. There is truly no need for a car when you’re here, with the walkability of town, a robust free transportation system, and the BreckConnect Gondola to connect the resort and the town. This partnership aligns perfectly with our goals to improve traffic and circulation throughout town and support sustainable travel and tourism.”
Arapahoe Basin Ski Area
“Increasing carpooling and the use of public transportation methods to get to the ski area is one of A-Basin’s primary sustainability goals and part of our efforts to be carbon neutral by 2025. We also hope this helps some individuals without their own means of transportation to experience the joy of skiing or riding.”
I-70 Coalition: Margaret Bowes, Director
“The I-70 Coalition knows that the best way to decrease congestion on the I-70 mountain corridor is to increase transit ridership. This is why we’ve advocated for and supported an option that drops them at the doorstep of some of the best ski resorts in the world. They have truly made a dent in both I-70 congestion and greenhouse gas emissions.”
Colorado Ski Country USA: Sarah Beatty, Director of Communications
“Colorado Ski Country USA is excited to support CDOT’s Snowstang service again this ski season. This direct-to-the-lift bus service lets skiers and riders sit back and relax on the way to several fan-favorite resorts from convenient pick-up spots around the metro area. It’s a fantastic option that makes it easy to enjoy your day on the slopes and leave the driving to someone else.”
