Books: Colorado and Lyons history, flood, gift books

Right here in our town is a USED BOOK STORE! yes, and it is right in the Lyons Redstone Museum. It often has tourists stop by to pick up a book or (used) magazine to read while camping nearby. Both local residents and their visiting or returning relatives shop for history books of the area (from Lyons to Denver to the Rocky Mts. and more). The museum also has a collection of books about the flood, many of which cannot be found anywhere else. (Too many subjects to list them all here! You may have to stop by in the SUMMER and BROWSE!)
The 1,000+ books are sorted into NEW and USED sections. In the used section you have categories like alternative health, politics, poetry, inspirational, crafts, cooking, and more. In the fiction section there are books from the 1910s to 2000s, including well-know authors’ mystery and thrillers, as well as historical fiction. There are National Geographic, Birding, and New Yorker magazines ($1). Books range from $1 to about $25 for the “special books,” like souvenir and photo books.
This includes a large section of Buddhist and Nepal related books that were donated by our past local Buddhist monk Kunga.
Two of our most popular new books are “A Lady’s Life in the Rockies” by Isabella Bird, about a Victorian woman who came to our mountains for an adventure. And, “Recollections of a Rocky Mt. Ranger,” by a man who had roots in Lyons.
The Great Flood of 2013 books include four PHOTO books done by local Lyons people. And the “1,000 year flood” book that was published by the Times Call (we bought the last of their copies).
The museum also has some gorgeous books for “gift giving” about Colorado, historic towns, and travel tips, with lots of photos, published by the Colorado History Museum.
The Lyons History books are:
==Piecing a Town Together — family histories
==Double Gateway to the Rockies — Lyons history from 1900+ (lots of photos!)
==Lyons Sandstone Quarries (history of)
==Birth of a Quarry Town (focusing on early Lyons)
