Wanted: volunteers to dress up for 1880s schoolhouse tours near Heil Valley Ranch

Boulder County, Colo. – Boulder County Parks & Open Space is recruiting cultural history volunteers for two programs: Walker Ranch Living History and Altona School.
WALKER RANCH
Volunteers at Walker Ranch dress in period costume and learn fun living history demonstrations to share at special events and weekday school field trips at the Walker Ranch Homestead, an 1880s-era ranch in the mountains. This is a great opportunity for families to get involved in a volunteer activity together.
ALTONA SCHOOL
Altona School volunteers lead educational, fun programs at the recently restored one-room Altona Schoolhouse at Heil Valley Ranch. Applicants do not need to be teachers to apply. This is a great opportunity for those who enjoy local history and are comfortable presenting to a variety of audiences.
SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS
For those whose schedules allow, there are also opportunities to help with special presentations for school groups that visit these sites for field trips.
APPLICATION
The application deadline for both programs is Tuesday, Dec. 1. Training dates are to be determined. For more information and to apply, please visit the Volunteer Opportunity web page at boco.org/BCPOSvolunteer or contact Sheryl Kippen at skippen@bouldercounty.org or 303-776-8848.
