NOVEMBER IS:
Trans-awareness Month/ and Trans Remembrance day: A month to celebrate transgender and gender nonconforming communities and to raise awareness for this community through education and advocacy activities. See ARTICLE.
Native American Heritage Month. In 1990 President George H. W. Bush approved a joint resolution designating November 1990 “National American Indian Heritage Month.” And each president thereafter has signed it in again. Commonly referred to, American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month. See ARTICLE.

November 10, Saturday – Lyons Middle/High School boys Football team will be playing in Mancos, CO for the next PLAYOFF Game.

November 11, noon, at Library, Lyons Climate Action meeting to update the community and invite them to join with tasks that can move this project forward. All are welcome. Includes discussion of recent spraying of cheat grass near Lyons. https://www.lyonsclimateactiongroup.com/home
November 11, Seniors, bus trip to Kirkland Museum = cancelled due to lack of people signed up.
November 12, 2-5p.m. – Concert and fundraiser: There is a free artist showcase in honor of the life and service of volunteer Firefighter Griffin Ferguson — at the A-Lodge deck in Lyons, featuring local musicians Joe Kuckla, Charlie Rose, and The River Pigs. Donations are accepted and will be used to help the development and continuation of a First Responder Peer Support Program. November 12, 9-12noon, Annual Writers Workshop. At Lyons Library. Nudging a novel? In the middle of a memoir? Penning some poems? Whether you’re a fiction writer, poet, memoirist, essayist, or just want to get words down on paper or screen, join us at the library for a morning dedicated to the writing you want to do now!—the teacher’s credentials are very impressive! NOVEMBER 13 – WORLD KINDNESS DAY – See ARTICLE
November 14, 4-7p.m., Sacred woman spirit, and Oracle cards. 3-hour workshop is a collaboration between Mayama’s Jasmine Lok and local authors. Join us to explore the enlivening force of the feminine in your life, be it as grace, fierceness, or radical authenticity.

All Colorado women have faced and overcome a wide range of challenges throughout our state’s history. From ranching to telegraphy, overcoming tuberculosis to participating in bootlegging, many of their struggles continue into the present day. Get to know some of these historic figures thru their inspiring stories during this presentation by Elizabeth Nosek of iCurate4u.
November 17, 6-9 p.m. – The Boulder Library Foundation will host “From the Page to the Stage,” its second annual fundraising gala to support library programming. The evening event inside Boulder Library’s Canyon Theater will be hosted by LeeLee James, AKA The Twirling Tech Goddess, and feature music by the Cultural Caravan. Enjoy refreshments in the Canyon Gallery, the adjacent gardens and on the bridge over Boulder Creek. November 19, 9-11a.m. Lyons Fire Protection District = pancake breakfast celebration. Come see the new engine that will have a dedication to former firefighter Griffin Ferguson who passed away on May 26th. This is being held at the Lyons Fire Station 1 located at 251 Broadway.

November 21, 7 p.m. Audubon: Board of Trustee meeting. Join Boulder County Audubon community on Tuesday, November 22, from 5-7pm to enjoy appetizers, beverages, socializing, and education/information booths. The country-wide CRISIS hotline/emergencies is now in effect: 988 = for Americans in crisis to connect with suicide prevention and mental health crisis counselors. (bypass calling 911 or the police)
Lyons now has a co-responder (mental health) who will come out with the Police, if you need help. Ask for one when you call 9-1-1.

You can get a COVID-19 vaccine at a pharmacy, doctor’s office, pop-up clinic, or mobile vaccine bus near you. The COVID-19 vaccine is free. You don’t need ID or insurance to get vaccinated. TIME TO ENROLL OR CHANGE MEDICARE PLANS: Participating Medicare enrollees are invited to connect with Boulder County Area Agency on Aging counselors starting October 20. Open enrollment period runs from Saturday through Dec. 7, during which time people can review or change their plans for next year. ===== BCAAA Medicare counselors are State Health Insurance Programs certified and can help enrollees by comparing their current plan against other options. Counseling appointments are both virtually and over the phone.
