NOTE: We focus on events in Lyons. We add a few special events outside of Lyons, but, in general, do not provide the LINKS, as they are usually big enough to be well-publicized all over the web.
NOVEMBER IS:
Trans-awareness Month/ and Trans Remembrance day: A month to celebrate transgender and gender nonconforming communities and to raise awareness for this community through education and advocacy activities.
Native American Heritage Month. In 1990 President George H. W. Bush approved a joint resolution designating November 1990 “National American Indian Heritage Month.” And each president thereafter has signed it in again. Commonly referred to, American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month.

October 19 to November 16 – 5 week – series – Writing workshop for kids 6th thru 12th grade. Lyons.Library
Day of Dead exhibit at Longmont Museum – free thru Nov.6th – Day of the Dead – Don’t miss your last chance to see this year’s Día de los Muertos exhibition in our Swan Atrium; features ofrendas (altars) built by community members and the work of local artist Marcelo Fernandez.

November 5 – Lyons Champions — Lyons Mid/High School football team is playing in the STATE PLAYOFFS! THIS Saturday! November 5 at 1 p.m. (kickoff) vs. Dayspring Christian Academy. TAILGATING begins at 11 a.m.
November 5, Fundraiser Gala = St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation, for the St. Vrain Valley Gala. This event is on Saturday. It is our annual event that brings together business and community partners to raise funds in support of students and teachers in St. Vrain Valley Schools.
November 5 – 9a.m. to noon – LIMB DROP OFF DAY (residents only): The Town of Lyons is helping to host another self-service Fire Mitigation/Fuels Reduction Drop Off Day. This drop-off service is for residents with property located within the Lyons Fire Protection District boundary, for one day only, Saturday, November 5, from 9 am – Noon at the Lyons Public Works Facility. =====LOCATION: 4687 Ute Hwy, in front of Town’s public works facility, (east of the tiny house builder)—Branches and limbs ONLY.—NO yard waste, roots, grass, pine needles, pine cones, tree stumps, flood debris, dirt, rocks, construction materials, lumber or trash accepted.====Self- service, you unload your vehicle ––Residential Use Only--Volunteers will ensure materials meet the requirements. No commercial drop-off accepted.
November 5, 5-10 p.m., Colorado History Museum: Night at the Museum (Free Admission!) An evening of time-traveling fun as you and your family adventure into Colorado’s past, present and future with 15 exhibits. 1200 North Broadway, Denver—get tickets online!
November 5, 10-10p.m. This is the 5th year of the Nederland International Film Festival at the Backdoor Theater in Nederland within the Community Center. Documentaries, indie films about outdoor adventure, nature, music , and life.

November 9, 1 p.m. Zoom – Seniors “Fresh Conversations” about staying healthy/mainly food topics. Topic is: Know Your Heart Signs- Improving Cardiovascular Health. November 10, Saturday – Lyons Middle/High School boys Football team will be playing in Mancos, CO.
November 11 – Veterans Day

November 11, Seniors, bus trip to Kirkland Museum = cancelled due to lack of people signed up.
November 12, 2-5p.m. – Concert and fundraiser: There is a free artist showcase in honor of the life and service of volunteer Firefighter Griffin Ferguson — at the A-Lodge deck in Lyons, featuring local musicians Joe Kuckla, Charlie Rose, and The River Pigs. Donations are accepted and will be used to help the development and continuation of a First Responder Peer Support Program. November 12, 9-12noon, Annual Writers Workshop. At Lyons Library. Nudging a novel? In the middle of a memoir? Penning some poems? Whether you’re a fiction writer, poet, memoirist, essayist, or just want to get words down on paper or screen, join us at the library for a morning dedicated to the writing you want to do now!—the teacher’s credentials are very impressive! NOVEMBER 13 – WORLD KINDNESS DAY
November 14, 4-7p.m., Sacred woman spirit, and Oracle cards. 3-hour workshop is a collaboration between Mayama’s Jasmine Lok and local authors. Join us to explore the enlivening force of the feminine in your life, be it as grace, fierceness, or radical authenticity.

All Colorado women have faced and overcome a wide range of challenges throughout our state’s history. From ranching to telegraphy, overcoming tuberculosis to participating in bootlegging, many of their struggles continue into the present day. November 17, 6-9 p.m. – The Boulder Library Foundation will host “From the Page to the Stage,” its second annual fundraising gala to support library programming. The evening event inside Boulder Library’s Canyon Theater will be hosted by LeeLee James, AKA The Twirling Tech Goddess, and feature music by the Cultural Caravan. Enjoy refreshments in the Canyon Gallery, the adjacent gardens and on the bridge over Boulder Creek. November 19, 9-11a.m. Lyons Fire Protection District = pancake breakfast celebration. Come see the new engine that will have a dedication to former firefighter Griffin Ferguson who passed away on May 26th. This is being held at the Lyons Fire Station 1 located at 251 Broadway.

November 21, 7 p.m. Audubon: Board of Trustee meeting. Join Boulder County Audubon community on Tuesday, November 22, from 5-7pm to enjoy appetizers, beverages, socializing, and education/information booths. Mental Health Partners, Colorado — IN CRISIS? – As of June 2022, they reopened their Crisis Center for walk-ins 24/7 again – 3180 Airport Rd., Boulder (normal resource center: 2935 Baseline)
Lyons Emergency & Assistance Fund has free mental counseling available. Sometimes it is paid for by your insurance company, sometimes Medicaid, or use sliding-scale, or free. contact: mentalwellness@leafLYONS.org
The country-wide CRISIS hotline/emergencies is now in effect: 988 = for Americans in crisis to connect with suicide prevention and mental health crisis counselors. (bypass calling 911 or the police)
Lyons now has a co-responder (mental health) who will come out with the Police, if you need help. Ask for one when you call 9-1-1.

TIME TO ENROLL OR CHANGE MEDICARE PLANS: Participating Medicare enrollees are invited to connect with Boulder County Area Agency on Aging counselors starting October 20. Open enrollment period runs from Saturday through Dec. 7, during which time people can review or change their plans for next year. ===== BCAAA Medicare counselors are State Health Insurance Programs certified and can help enrollees by comparing their current plan against other options. Counseling appointments are both virtually and over the phone.
