Friends of Lyons Library Book Sale:
- October 13 members only 5-6p.m. (Thursday)
- October 14 open to public 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- October 15, open to public 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
They are pulling out all the stops, gathering up all the books they have been saving for the sale. All are in Good Shape and sold at Bargain Prices!==Children’s books, adult fiction, and adult nonfiction (self-help, travel, gardening, poetry, music, biography, science, rafts, hobbies, cookbooks) == Oct 13 is first day you can place a bid in the Silent Auction of the dollhouse at the library. October 14, Art Opening Lyons – Join us for art and wine at the opening reception for 3Cs Art Collective’s next Main Street Gallery exhibition, “Nocturnal”. This show hosts 80 artworks with after dark themes just in time for spooky season. Find us downstairs at 402 Main Street Suite 6, Lyons, from 6-9p.m. Friday.

October 15 – Medicare Open Enrollment begins (thru Dec. 7)
October 15 – 16 Mollie McGee’s Fall Craft Market: more than 150 vendors, this popular long-time market is at the Boulder Fair Grounds in Longmont. $5 admission good for both days, children under age 12 are free. molliemcgee.com.
October 15 – Oskar Blues’ Canniversary event (separate event from Lyons Ditch live music) hosted by Oskar Blues Brewery at their Tasty Weasel taproom location.
October 15th, 7 p.m. Masquerade Party, at the Dairy Arts Center at 7pm. Boulder Opera is hosting our annual Gala Concert. The Gala Concert is going to be a great musical party, with music from Magic Flute, Phantom of the Opera, season highlights, and more! There will be a silent auction as well as a witch’s brew punch, and guests are encouraged to wear a mask or purchase one at the event.
October 17, 10:30 a.m., Lyons library: Let’s Play Music Together – Join us on a reading, listening, and playing journey! Our book will take us around the world twice, playing different musical instruments along the way. —We will be giving away one copy of the book per family and maracas to everyone who wants to join in the fun!

October 20, 7 p.m., Science & Spirits series “Fire Science & indigenous Cultures with Mary Huffman” at SpiritHounds (& specialty cocktails) An engaging inside look into wildfires and controlled burning, from an American Indian perspective (traditional fire practices) & Nature Conservancy.
October 21 – 2nd session of sketch class at library
October 21, 2:30p.m. – Pedestrian Bridge Grand Opening: After a long journey, the 4th Avenue Pedestrian Bridge and Safe Route to School project, connecting our middle and elementary schools is wrapping up. Join us for a community celebration at the Bridge beginning at 2:30 pm. The elementary students, staff and families will head over after school lets out. So many are excited to have this neighborhood connection and path back! After the Great Flood of 2013’s destruction.

Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra returns to perform the live musical score to accompany a screening on the 100th anniversary of this silent horror film classic. This unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, features not Dracula but Count Orlok, a nightmarish, spidery creature of bulbous head and taloned claws — perhaps the most genuinely disturbing incarnation of vampirism yet envisioned.

October 29, 7-9 p.m. Noche De Museo: Celebrating Day of The Dead = A Multigenerational Evening of Music and Dance==$10 general admission, $8 students/seniors, $5 members=the Longmont Museum Stewart Auditorium comes alive with musicians, singers and dancers of all ages for an evening in celebration of Dia de los Muertos. Mariachi groups from local schools join up with seasoned veterans, while young performers join seasoned pros to sing and dance to traditional Mexican song. Join us for this annual community celebration of a centuries old Mexican tradition which has quickly become part of the cultural fabric of Longmont. The Spooktacular will have the games and fun for families and kids of all ages beginning at 4 p.m. till 5:30 p.m. at the Elementary School on Sat. Oct 29. (2.) The Parade is at 6 p.m. with line up at 5:45 p.m. (3.) The trick or treat at stores starts afterwards, about 6:30 p.m. (4.) November 14, Women of the West – Longmont class #484392 $6.00
All Colorado women have faced and overcome a wide range of challenges throughout our state’s history. From ranching to telegraphy, overcoming tuberculosis to participating in bootlegging, many of their struggles continue into the present day. Lyons Emergency & Assistance Fund has free mental counseling available. Sometimes it is paid for by your insurance company, sometimes Medicaid, or use sliding-scale, or free. contact: mentalwellness@leafLYONS.org
The country-wide CRISIS hotline/emergencies is now in effect: 988 = for Americans in crisis to connect with suicide prevention and mental health crisis counselors. (bypass calling 911 or the police)
Lyons now has a co-responder (mental health) who will come out with the Police, if you need help. Ask for one when you call 9-1-1.

TIME TO ENROLL OR CHANGE MEDICARE PLANS: Participating Medicare enrollees are invited to connect with Boulder County Area Agency on Aging counselors starting October 20. Open enrollment period runs from Saturday through Dec. 7, during which time people can review or change their plans for next year. ===== BCAAA Medicare counselors are State Health Insurance Programs certified and can help enrollees by comparing their current plan against other options. Counseling appointments are both virtually and over the phone. Call BCAAA’s Medicare Appointment Counseling Line at 303-441-1546 or email medicarecounseling@bouldercounty.org. == Those in LARIMER COUNTY can get help in Estes Park Senior Recreation Center.
