August 20, 7 p.m. – “Elephant Revival” Concert – standalone concert at Planet Bluegrass: opening with Covenhoven, and starring Elephant Revival. Bonnie Paine, Bridget Law, Dango Rose, Charlie Rose, and Darren Garvey will be joined by special guest Daniel Sproul of Rose Hill Drive along with other surprise guests. August 28, 2-7 p.m. Hootenanny at Lyons River Bend, Lyons Community Foundation. == This is a fun event, with live music (Daniel Rodriguez and Friends), a family fun zone, a corn hole tournament, a rubber ducky race and a silent auction, food trucks. Mayama Dance Team will be performing two of their newest choreographies at the Hootenanny. They will also be teaching us a few dance moves. (There is a $5 charge for parking; the event is free.)
August 29, 9a.m. – 2:30 p.m. – SENIOR BUS TRIP – BUTTERFLIES: as of 8/17/22– 10 openings still available! explore the wonderful world of insects at the Butterfly Pavilion… displays filled with all kinds of invertebrates with exhibits such as Colorado Backyard and Wings of the Tropics. …stroll through a tropical paradise …with butterflies flying all around us. After our visit .hop back on the bus to Rosetta Hall in Boulder for lunch… features eight restaurants representing a variety of world cuisine. September 6 – Town Board of Trustee meeting, delayed one day, due to holiday
September 9 – 11, daily 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. 46th year – Longs Peak Scottish-Irish Festival, 1209 Manford Avenue, next to the Conference building; arena/Field; Join “the clans” for entertainment over three days, including music, highland dancing, a pipping competition, plenty of athletic events, parade, dogs, and more. The largest of its kind in the US.
September 11, 7 p.m. Town Board of Trustee meeting, open to public.
September 14, 6:30 p.m. Lyons Library “Art of Negotiating.” The act of negotiating occurs in many aspects of a person’s personal and professional life. This session will expose attendees to the characteristics of a successful negotiation. REGISTER free
September 16, 17, 18 – Mabon Festival at Planet Bluegrass, Lyons. Emmylou Harris and many old favorites will be performing. TIX at PB or See Tickets.
September 21, Lyons Library bi-monthly book club: discussion of Afterlife by Julia Alvarez. REGISTER The library has a dozen books set aside to lend out.
September 26, Senior Bus Trip to Denver Zoo. (registration not open yet) thru Town of Lyons Rec Dept.

Mental Health Partners, Colorado — IN CRISIS? – As of June 2022, they reopened their Crisis Center for walk-ins 24/7 again – 3180 Airport Rd., Boulder (normal resource center: 2935 Baseline)
Lyons Emergency & Assistance Fund has free mental counseling available. Sometimes it is paid for by your insurance company, sometimes Medicaid, or use sliding-scale, or free. contact: mentalwellness@leafLYONS.org
The country-wide CRISIS hotline/emergencies is now in effect: 988 = for Americans in crisis to connect with suicide prevention and mental health crisis counselors. (bypass calling 911 or the police)
Lyons now has a co-responder (mental health) who will come out with the Police, if you need help. Ask for one when you call 9-1-1.

Boulder County Aging serves lunch at the Lyons Senior Center (Lyons seniors, ages 60 and up), located in the apartment complex Community Center next to the Post Office.
