August 13-14, super big 38th annual sculpture show in Loveland, Benson Park. Tickets may be purchased at the gate for $10 (children 14 and under are admitted free) Sculpture in the Park is the largest outdoor juried show and sale in the United States.

August 17, 12:30 p.m. – monthly Senior Birthday Party at Senior Center for all those Lyons seniors born in August (free cake, singing “HB” and activity) Open to all Lyons Seniors.
August 17, 1:30 p.m. – Response to CEMEX Lease Request – the Boulder County Planning Commission is hosting a public meeting beginning at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, August 17th, 2022 regarding their review and recommendation to the Boulder County Commissioners. The CEMEX item is number 5.4 on the agenda and they will be taking public input . Due to COVID-19, Planning Commission hearings are currently being held virtually. Information regarding how to participate will be available on their webpage one week prior to the hearing at https://boco.org/PC . August 17, Wednesday – RECYCLE: Lyons Volunteers will be picking up hard to recycle materials. Please use this form to request pick up of your hard to recycle materials. hard Block Styrofoam, Scrap Metal, and electronics. Lyons Volunteers is a service of Lyons Emergency Relief Fund (LEAF).
August 20, 12:30p.m. – Art Trading Cards at the library
August 20, 7 p.m. – “Elephant Revival” Concert – standalone concert at Planet Bluegrass: opening with Covenhoven, and starring Elephant Revival. Bonnie Paine, Bridget Law, Dango Rose, Charlie Rose, and Darren Garvey will be joined by special guest Daniel Sproul of Rose Hill Drive along with other surprise guests. August 29, 9a.m. – 2:30 p.m. – SENIOR BUS TRIP – BUTTERFLIES: as of 8/10/22– 10 openings still available! explore the wonderful world of insects at the Butterfly Pavilion… displays filled with all kinds of invertebrates with exhibits such as Colorado Backyard and Wings of the Tropics. …stroll through a tropical paradise …with butterflies flying all around us. After our visit .hop back on the bus to Rosetta Hall in Boulder for lunch… features eight restaurants representing a variety of world cuisine. Mental Health Partners, Colorado — IN CRISIS? – As of June 2022, they reopened their Crisis Center for walk-ins 24/7 again – 3180 Airport Rd., Boulder (normal resource center: 2935 Baseline)
Lyons Emergency & Assistance Fund has free mental counseling available. Sometimes it is paid for by your insurance company, sometimes Medicaid, or use sliding-scale, or free. contact: mentalwellness@leafLYONS.org
The country-wide CRISIS hotline/emergencies is now in effect: 988 = for Americans in crisis to connect with suicide prevention and mental health crisis counselors. (bypass calling 911 or the police)
Lyons now has a co-responder (mental health) who will come out with the Police, if you need help. Ask for one when you call 9-1-1.
Boulder County Aging serves lunch at the Lyons Senior Center (Lyons seniors, ages 60 and up), located in the apartment complex Community Center next to the Post Office. You must call the day before by 1 p.m. to place an order (303) 441-1415. The menu is stated on the phone message. Donation of $3 suggested, or what you can afford.
