===JULY===
July 29-31, 3-day weekend, Rocky Grass festival, Planet Bluegrass WEBSITE === See our ARTICLE this week that highlights lesser known, but fabulous bands. === While the concert is sold out, PB does resell tickets that are returned. They ask people to return tickets if they can’t use them, in an effort to stop scalpers from selling them at outrageous prices.
July 30, Redstone Museum “Christmas in July” sale === They will be holding a “gift store clearance sale” from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, on the Redstone Museum lawn. Stop by to pick up some holiday decor, vintage tableware, vintage T-shirts and hats, gift items, and vintage magazines. (NOTE this not a “garage sale”) Also take a look inside at the 1,000+ used book store! All proceeds go towards museum operations!
===AUGUST===
We do not promote most activities outside of Lyons here, but we do list some very big/popular events. These are just a reminder, and the info will be publicized elsewhere abundantly.
August 1 – GOLF TOURNAMENT – to support Lyons Lions club charitable efforts – Lake Valley Golf Club. Contact Lyons Lions Club to play, or be one of the great sponsors! Great prizes! You can sign up online. All money raised goes to scholarship and to help those in need get eyeglasses. SEE ARTICLE
August 2, 6 p.m. – Lyons Fire will be participating at National Night Out. This event is a great opportunity for us to interact with our community in a non-emergency setting. They are working with Boulder County Sheriff Deputies to coordinate this event — who provides much of the event. == Lyons (Bohn Park). Free food, music, emergency equipment, demonstrations, first responders, etc.
August 3, 6:30 p.m. – free concert in Sandstone Park: mandolin/wing/jazz
August 5, “Lights Out Lyons”== Town of Lyons residents and businesses are invited to go “lights out” on Friday, during one of the peak viewing nights of the Perseids meteor shower. Take a stroll to Bohn Park for an event featuring guided star talks with a variety of telescopes, acoustic music and stargazing. Optional overnight in tents. Music – Ian Brighton’s band at 7:30p.m. and singer Michele Castro from Rio De Janeiro at 9 p.m. Learn more (the Town’s detailed flier)
August 5, annual Hilltop Guild Bazaar in Allenspark, Hwy 7 = Many community groups and stores in town will also have tables, selling crafts, jewelry, herbs and more. – live music. August 6, 12 noon to 12a.m. FILM FESTIVAL – Project-Nerd Film Festival, at The Motherlode Cafe and Tavern, Niwot. Put on by our local Lyons film festival group. This one has a lot of neat, unique films!
August 6, Apple Valley Art Show, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., 2136 Apple Valley, Becky Jacobson offers space to lots of amazing artists, mostly new folks. food trucks this year – Tommy Boy Donuts and the Wolf’s amazing Mexican food. == while her husband Todd Jacobson will also have his annual Crapfest going on. It offers things like old tools, rusting metal work, handyman items, do-it-yourself stuff…
August 7 – Cheyenne Mtn. Adventure Day
August 8, 1 p.m., Pete Seeger and other “folks” movie at Lyons Library, free
August 9, 8-10 a.m. – Medicare class at Estes Park Library. (repeat 9/13) Boulder County Aging also has classes visit boco.org/AAALearns..
August 10, 6:30p.m. FINAL concert of the season at Sandstone Park; “Sims” performing.
August 13-14, super big 38th annual sculpture show in Loveland, Benson Park. Tickets may be purchased at the gate for $10 (children 14 and under are admitted free) Sculpture in the Park is the largest outdoor juried show and sale in the United States.
August 12-14, weekend FOLKS Festival at Planet Bluegrass. As of 7/10/22 only Friday night tickets are left. But PB does resell tickets that are returned, so keep watching their web pages. www.bluegrass.com
August 17, 12:30 p.m. – monthly Senior Birthday Party at Senior Center (all seniors with birthdays in August can join) plus a fun activity
August 17, 6:30 p.m. – rescheduled Concert in the Park (that was cancelled due to rain). Beth Gadbaw is known as a Celtic angel for her Irish style singing and drumming. She will be joined by LOCALS Sarah Wong, Sheldon Sands, Mark Anton.
August 20, 12:30p.m. – Art Trading Cards at the library
August 20, 7 p.m. – “Elephant Revival” Concert – standalone concert at Planet Bluegrass: opening with Covenhoven, and starring Elephant Revival. Bonnie Paine, Bridget Law, Dango Rose, Charlie Rose, and Darren Garvey will be joined by special guest Daniel Sproul of Rose Hill Drive along with other surprise guests. August 28, Hootenanny at Lyons River Bend, fundraiser for LCF, lots of entertainment (more info to come)
August 29, 9-2:30 p.m. Bus Trip for Lyons Seniors to the Butterfly Pavillon, followed by a meal at the food bar in Boulder. Contact LRamsey@townoflyons.com as soon as possible to reserve your seat. (Bus free; butterflies $12.50; meal “on your own”)
MUSIC & FUN: Contact these restaurants in Lyons for more information about music, and fun activities like, acoustic jam sessions, Art Fair, farm-to-table meals, bluegrass jams…and, of course, LIVE MUSIC! and more, being offered this summer — as they are able to hire more staff, more things will be added — The Stone Cup (Music Schedule), Mojo Taqueria, Pizza Bar 66, A-Lodge Lyons, Oskar Blues Bar and Grill, SpiritHounds Distillers (Events), and Main Stage Brewing.(Events/Music). = Main Stage is bringing back TRIVIA night as of 7/19/22, 6 p.m.

===ONGOING EVENTS over a number of days===
Lyons (history) Redstone Museum is now open 7 days a week: Sunday 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. / and rest of week 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Free but donations are welcome!
June thru August, 6:30 p.m. – 10 summer concerts in the Park (See our ARTICLE for description of bands) Thanks to LCF, and the Town Parks Department. Snacks and beverages will be available for a donation. NOTE: these are now on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in Sandstone Park.
The Teen Advisory Group, which meets at the Lyons Library, is off for the summer (but Fridays in the summer will be Teen Nights with movies, games, or karaoke from 7-9 pm. — see LIST ) They will began again in August when school resumes.
School District Summer Lunches — SVVSD is providing meals for students during the month of June at no cost to St. Vrain families! Please see the Summer Meal Program flyer for more information, including dates and pick up locations!
FREE FITNESS IN THE PARK (LONGMONT): all ages – no registration. Every Friday. View the Fitness in the Park Schedule – go to the very bottom of the page and click on “Fitness in Parks” to see which park it will be in this week.
RMNP *FREE* dates are: April 16, August 4, September 24, November 11. Entrance fee is waived but you still must have obtained a timed entry reservation permit online beforehand.
LYONS ART SHOW – NOW OPEN – July, August, September — Town Hall & Library: 3rd quarter Art Show by LAHC — see ARTICLE 7/21/22 on Daniel Strawn’s solo show at the library, and the public’s art on “Thirst/ Water” is at Town Hall.

Mental Health Partners, Colorado — IN CRISIS? – As of June 2022, they reopened their Crisis Center for walk-ins 24/7 again – 3180 Airport Rd., Boulder (normal resource center: 2935 Baseline)
Lyons Emergency & Assistance Fund has free mental counseling available. Sometimes it is paid for by your insurance company, sometimes Medicaid, or use sliding-scale, or free. contact: mentalwellness@leafLYONS.org
The country-wide CRISIS hotline/emergencies is now in effect: 988 = for Americans in crisis to connect with suicide prevention and mental health crisis counselors. July 1, 2022. (bypass calling 911 or the police) Note, this was delayed due to funding – to July 16, 2022.

Boulder County Aging serves lunch at the Lyons Senior Center (Lyons seniors, ages 60 and up), located in the apartment complex Community Center next to the Post Office. You must call the day before by 1 p.m. to place an order (303) 441-1415. The menu is stated on the phone message. Donation of $3 suggested, or what you can afford. (Guests or those under 60 years of age pay flat rate of $12) ==Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – 12 noon – Walt Self/Senior Center
SENIOR EXERCISE – 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., free. For Lyons seniors 55+ === In the winter: Senior Center basement. In the summer: one of Lyons parks. Contact Lramsey@townoflyons.com Senior Center entrance on the alley side of the building; every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 – 11:30 am. Park on Railroad Avenue, not in the Housing parking lot. May consist of: hand weights and floor exercises, or simple yoga and stretching, and a walk outside.
Wednesdays – 3:30 – 6 p.m. – Food Pantry for those in need. Contact LEAF for more information. (Drop off new, unexpired food 9:30 to 2:30pm on Wednesdays; all Food Banks are in crisis with prices increasing an average of 30%, and there is a food shortage) Location: hall on basement level of Community Church building (white wood building on Main Street and 4th)
