Town of Lyons updates on projects
EDITOR’s NOTES: This is a list of notices that the Town of Lyons sent out in their E-Blast this week. We are sharing this with the public who are not signed up for the E-Blasts, as they are important updates. Also, so it will be part of the Lyons Recorder’s archive.
4th Ave Ped Bridge Update
The new caisson was poured at the end of last week and passed the structural inspection. With this new placement, both staff and the contractor are waiting on updated design from the engineers. The project will be on hold for a few weeks, while the design is updated.
In the meantime, the contractor has completed the sidewalk work up to the bridge approaches along with some trail work. Completion is expected in late summer.
Lyons Thrive What’s Next?
Growth Framework Survey is now available
The Growth Framework defines the types of land uses that are currently present or envisioned for the future in different areas of Lyons and includes an overview of Lyons’ planning areas. Each area has a unique vision for the future and this framework will guide land use decisions over the next 10 to 20 years. Take the survey and let us know what you think any time before July 8!
Next Steps
On July 11 there will be a joint update to the Board of Trustees and the Planning and Community Development Commission. Join this discussion to learn more about the Growth Framework and hear more about next steps. A full draft of the Lyons Thrive Comprehensive Plan will be available in early September, stay tuned for more input opportunities.
Corona Hill Assessment
In September 2021, the town of Lyons made a request to Boulder County Parks & Open Space to reassess the potential for a trail across Corona Hill connecting the town to the Hall Ranch Open Space trailhead. This trail option was removed from past planning efforts because of natural resource concerns and the difficulty of building a sustainable trail on the steep slopes. However, to document the current conditions and to see if any conditions had significantly changed since previous assessments, Boulder County Parks & Open Space agreed to reassess the resources and trail options. Local Sales Tax Remittance
Up 11% year to date
The Board of Trustees asked staff to share current monthly sales tax collections with residents. Each month the town’s finance director updates the Board of Trustees with town financial data. Year to date sales tax collections are up 11% over the same period last year.
Lyons Park River Ponds Update
Eco Resource Solutions (ERS) submitted the May 2022 water quality results for Lyons Valley River Park Ponds.
According to their reporting, each pond maintains ideal water chemistry with no parameters of concern. As the months continue to get warmer over the summer, ERS will continue to maintain the Moleaer Generators in working order so that previous algae issues do not become a concern. Overall, results demonstrate that the current program continues to be working.
