*****June is “Gun Violence Awareness” Month /and/ Gay Pride Month*****
June 16, 5:30 – 7 p.m. Boulder County residents are invited to join the Board of County Commissioners for a Town Hall meeting onsite in Lyons June 16. The Commissioners will meet with the Mayor and Board of Lyons, staff, and constituents to discuss issues of concern for the local community. Location: Fire district building.
June 16, 7 p.m. – THRIVE – After the Commissioners meeting, go over to the Library to see town officials and discuss goals for the future of Lyons.
June 16 – RECYCLE DAY in Lyons — have your scrap metal and HARD Styrofoam BOARDS recycled by Lyons Volunteers. (too late to register for pick up)
June 18 – “Mountain Views” Lyons Garden Tour, 9-1pm See ARTICLE – 10 news homes, and one fabulous return visit. Buy your tickets via their web site. Free, but donations appreciated.

June 18, 11 a.m. – funeral memorial for Bill Boone on the family property, at the quarry pond.
June 19 – Happy FATHER’s DAY! Give your dad the kudos he deserves!
June 19 – JUNETEENTH also known as “Emancipation Day” (Legal State Holiday; government offices closed) TOWN of LYONS Offices CLOSED.

June 22 – seminar (fee) – Learn more about forest ecology, collaborative forest management, and defensible space in a webinar, brought to you by the Left Hand Watershed Center and Boulder County Nature Association. More information
June 23, 1p.m., zoom — ARTISTS! Greening Your Art Practice (free) RSVP for access information. The Boulder County Arts Alliance and City of Boulder Office of Arts and Culture welcome you to a discussion on greening your art practice.– will discuss environmentally responsible arts practices that will provide inspiration for your own work.
June 23, 12 noon – Sala Health Care – Businesses in Town! come and learn about the insurance offered via Lyons Chamber to you and your employees. (non-members welcome) == This session will cover all the details of this exciting healthcare solution. June 24-25, Lyons Good Old Days (ARTICLE) = 4 events: *********** Saturday, Lyons Redstone Museum history program w/brief speakers: 1-1:30 p.m. === Alumni from 1970 to 72 will be having 50 year Reunions; a picnic and camping in the park.=== Friday, 6 p.m., Redstone Museum front lawn. Dedication of sandstone bench to Micky Hawkins, the only Lyons military person to die in Vietnam. ===Saturday evening 6:30 p.m. live music in Sandstone Park. (No other GODays activities in town)
June 25-26 Denver Pride Festival in Civic Center Park. PARADE on June 26, Sunday. Go to www.DenverPride.org for more details.
June 25, 9-1 p.m. – Free Drop off of branches and limbs; Lyons residents only. The Town of Lyons, Boulder County, and Wildfire Task Force are hosting a Fire Mitigation/Fuels Reduction Drop Off Day. This drop-off service is for residents with property located within the Lyons Fire Protection District boundary, for one day only, == at the Lyons Public Works Facility. LOCATION: 4687 Ute Hwy, in front of Town’s public works facility, (east of the tiny house builder)== Branches and limbs ONLY. NO yard waste, roots, grass, pine needles, pine cones, tree stumps, flood debris, dirt, rocks, construction materials, lumber or trash accepted. Self- service, you unload your vehicle; Residential Use Only; Volunteers will ensure materials meet the requirements; No commercial drop-off accepted. ==Please note that the town’s curbside tree Limb pickup, finished on May 20th. If you have curbside tree limbs, they can be dropped off at the Jun 25th event. It is the responsibility of the property owner.
June 25: seminar (fee): Can you “read” a forest? Join us to learn how to see what the forest is telling you, and to understand what a healthy forest is like. We will work with foresters and others to learn how to be good “forest detectives.” More information Boulder County Nature Assn.
June 25, 4:30 p.m. – Join Colorado Humanities and Colorado Book Awards finalists on Saturday, at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House Studio Loft at 4:30 p.m. for a celebration of Colorado’s best literature published in 2021. Tickets are available for $30 and include a Kevin Taylor-catered reception and a drink ticket. Find tickets on the Colorado Humanities store at https://coloradohumanities.
June 26, 4 p.m. – The Town of Lyons and The Butterfly Effect Theater of Colorado (BETC) present Dorothy’s Dictionary, a powerful, heartwarming and timely new play by E.M. Lewis. A very unique presentation of mobile theater with its own traveling stage, the BETC truck will be parked at River Bend event venue, at 501 West Main Street, with free admission to the play beginning at 4 p.m.
June 27 – Lyons shuttle bus to Boulder during rush hour is re-instated. See our article 6/23/22 for details. FREE.
==JULY==
July 1 – Retail Delivery Fee Tax takes effect (27 cents). To avoid it “buy local at the store.”
July 4th, Independence Day! (government offices closed)
July 5 – Town Board of Trustee meeting (delayed one day due to Holiday)
July 6 – Third Quarter LAHC art show
July 17, 12-7p.m. – Art at River Bend
July 18 – Town Board Meeting
MUSIC & FUN: Contact these restaurants in Lyons for more information about music, and fun activities like, Poker Wednesday, acoustic jam sessions, Karaoke Friday, Open Mike, Art Fair, farm-to-table meals, Trivia Night …and, of course, LIVE MUSIC! and more, being offered this summer — as they are able to hire more staff, more things will be added — The Stone Cup (Music Schedule), Mojo Taqueria, Pizza Bar 66, A-Lodge Lyons, Oskar Blues Bar and Grill, SpiritHounds Distillers, and Main Stage Brewing.(Events/Music).

===ONGOING EVENTS over a number of days===
Lyons (history) Redstone Museum is now open 7 days a week: Sunday 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. / and rest of week 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Free but donations are welcome!
June thru August, 6:30 p.m. – 10 summer concerts in the Park (See our ARTICLE for description of bands) Thanks to LCF, and the Town Parks Department. Snacks and beverages will be available for a donation. NOTE: these are now on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in Sandstone Park.
The Teen Advisory Group, which meets at the Lyons Library, is off for the summer (but Fridays in the summer will be Teen Nights with movies, games, or karaoke from 7-9 pm. — see LIST ) They will began again in August when school resumes.
School District Summer Lunches — SVVSD is providing meals for students during the month of June at no cost to St. Vrain families! Please see the Summer Meal Program flyer for more information, including dates and pick up locations!
FREE FITNESS IN THE PARK (LONGMONT): all ages – no registration. Every Friday. View the Fitness in the Park Schedule – go to the very bottom of the page and click on “Fitness in Parks” to see which park it will be in this week.
RMNP *FREE* dates are: April 16, August 4, September 24, November 11. Entrance fee is waived but you still must have obtained a timed entry reservation permit online beforehand.
LYONS ART SHOW – NOW OPEN – April, May, June — Town Hall & Library: second quarter Art Show by LAHC — see ARTICLE Anita Miller will have a solo show at the library, and the public’s art on “What is Joy to you” will be at Town Hall. The article has all the details!

Boulder County Aging serves lunch at the Lyons Senior Center (Lyons seniors, ages 60 and up), located in the apartment complex Community Center next to the Post Office. You must call the day before by 1 p.m. to place an order (303) 441-1415. The menu is stated on the phone message. Donation of $3 suggested, or what you can afford. SENIOR EXERCISE – 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., free. For Lyons seniors 55+ === Senior Center basement. If the weather’s nice we’ll grab our hand weights and head outside to exercise -or- we’ll do a walk before heading inside for stretching and yoga
