==NEWS TID BITS==
Weather this past week was typical of Colorado’s rainy JUNE: days more or less at 80 degrees, with thunder storms every afternoon.

East Troublesome Fire: Based on evidence gathered at the fire’s origin, investigators have determined the fire to be human caused. Given the location and time of year that the fire started, it may have been caused by a hunter or a backcountry camper, and possibly by accident. Investigators from both agencies are working to identify the person or persons responsible for starting the fire. The investigation is still active. The East Troublesome Fire, one of the largest in Colorado’s history,
Gas prices jumped 40 cents a gallon over the past weekend. Colorado is at $4.67 and Lyons is at $4.47. Despite that… 90% of (5 day) Memorial Day travelers went by car –including 652,000 Coloradans according to AAA. — I went to the gas station today, Thursday, and the price went up to $4.77! It may be because the Circle-K (the only other gas station in town) has posted signs that they have run out of all gas!
Lyons senior Michael Tovani has found a permanent home at Brookdale Assisted Living, Longmont. Vance French has also moved to housing in Longmont. We wish them a healthy and happy residency. And, we hear that Betsy Montief may be returning to her Walt Self Housing apartment.
Colorado’s Avalanche Hockey Team has won the Western Division playoffs! and are on to the nationwide Stanley Cup playoffs in a week. They haven’t lost an “away” game in the playoffs. It’s been 20 years since they got the chance at the big prize. Ball Arena offered seats for $10 to watch it on the big screen (jumbotron) and it was packed. We will be able to watch the game on regular Denver television! Ticket prices for the playoffs are already at $1,000 and more.

OBIT: we are sad to report the Bill Boone has passed away. His obituary is in this week’s newspaper. The Lyons History Video Project did a video interview of him about a dozen years ago. We hope to do an article about him and the land some time this year. Our condolences to his family.
