LYONS ART SHOW – NOW OPEN – April, May, June — Town Hall & Library: second quarter Art Show by LAHC — see ARTICLE Anita Miller will have a solo show at the library, and the public’s art on “What is Joy to you” will be at Town Hall. The article has all the details!

The Town of Lyons is continuing to pick up piles of limbs from residents’ home this week.
Boulder County Aging serves lunch at the Lyons Senior Center (Lyons seniors, ages 60 and up), located in the apartment complex Community Center next to the Post Office. You must call the day before by 1 p.m. to place an order (303) 441-1415. The menu is stated on the phone message. Donation of $3 suggested, or what you can afford. (Guests or those under 60 years of age pay flat rate of $12) ==Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – 12 noon – Walt Self/Senior Center
SENIOR EXERCISE – 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., free. For Lyons seniors 55+ === Senior Center basement. Contact Lramsey@townoflyons.com Entrance on the alley side of the building; every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 – 11:30 am. If the weather’s nice we’ll grab our hand weights and head outside to exercise or we’ll do a walk before heading inside for stretching and yoga

May 19, 7 p.m. May’s Science & Spirits lecture with Dr. William Taylor is about an archaeological perspective on the human-horse relationship in the American West, and it will be our first outdoor Science & Spirits of the year (weather permitting), so dress appropriately!
May 21 – Take a Walk on the Wild Side – class offered by Town of Lyons. Fee. Join herbalist Anne Lelong for a springtime herb walk. Learn the many things you can do with these wild plants, like recipes, treatments, drinks, and more. It’s a short walk on a path. REGISTER (seniors contact Lisa Ramsey for a special offer)
May 21 – grand opening of Rabbit Brush gallery is delayed due to cold weather.
May 21, 9-3p.m. Rocky Mt Botanic Garden “hardy” plant sale. Support your local town garden, and be rewarded with healthy local plants. **Due to cold weather coming this weekend, we are postponing our plant sale until Saturday, May 28. 9 am to 3 pm,** You can still stop by and see the garden and speak with volunteers.
May 21, 12noon-2p.m. – Book Signing at the Lyons Library. Lyons Children’s Book Author, Cat Russell, is partnering with the Lyons Vet Clinic (15% of book sales supports the LVC charity fund). Offering 10% off a book, and 20% off a set. “The Pond of Reflection” and “The Hyrax Song” – multi-award winning children’s books.
May 21, 8:15 – 10 a.m. – =POSTPONED TILL MAY 28th due to winter storm= CLEAN UP LYONS! TRASH PICK UP – The Town of Lyons, along with the Sustainable Futures and the Parks and Recreation Commissions, is sponsoring a river, parks, and trail clean up. This is a great opportunity to get involved and make a positive impact on our community. Last spring, the clean up drew over 100 volunteers who collected 166 pounds of recycling, 200 pounds of scrap metal, and 337 pounds of trash. ==== We will meet at Bohn Park near the shelter and restroom building between 8:15 am and 8:30 on Saturday, May 21 and head out from there. Grab a pair of gloves, your hat, some sunscreen, and join us to pick up trash, pull weeds, and do your part to clean up and spruce up the Town’s parks and trails! Plan for about 1.5 hours of service. == At registration, you will be assigned a cleanup area and provided with a waiver form and trash bag. Let’s do this Lyons!
May 22 – Mayama Dance – 13th annual Dance Production where the theme is everything 80540. It’s been 3 long years since we’ve had an auditorium show making this year super special and a lot emotional- which is a potent mix. We can’t wait to see our dancers take to the new auditorium stage. Hope to see you all there!! Showtimes- Sunday May 22nd- 11am and 3pm. Show length – approximately 90 minutes with intermission. Tickets are still available for purchase at the school.

May 25, 5-7 p.m. – Bikes for Kids: Spend your happy hour giving back and doing a little good! Stop by CYCLHOPS Bike CANtina to join Can’d Aid in assembling art kits for foster children in the Longmont area. 600 S Airport Rd., Longmont. REGISTER
May 25 – RUNNING FOR OFFICE – Preferred county deadline* for party-affiliated voters to change or withdraw their party affiliation if they wish to vote in a different party’s primary for this election. This is also the preferred deadline for unaffiliated voters to specify a ballot preference in their voter registration if they wish. Otherwise, they may receive both major party ballots but can only vote and return one.
May 25, 10 – 12p.m. – Pollinator Gardening with Native Plants (Boulder) Audobon Society. Take a tour of Dave Sutherland’s native xeriscape garden and learn how to create one yourself to benefit pollinators and other wildlife. See Field Trip Details to RSVP

May 28, 9-3 p.m. new date for postponed “Lyons Rocky Mtn Botanic Gardens PLANT SALE” (see above for more details; it was delayed from 5/21 due to bad weather)
May 29, final day – drop into R Gallery and Wine Bar and enjoy the Boulder Art Association members “Trees” show. Some Lyons residents are showing there.
May 30 – Memorial Day! Remember those military people who fought and/or died for our Freedom!
May 31, 7-8 p.m. “Revealing History” — program by Lyons Redstone Museum for May History Month taking place at the Lyons library. No reservation needed. No fee. The Museum was the recipient of three very faded black and white photographs with the date 1898, which mentioned famous Irving Hale. Follow their story of trying to solve the mystery of who the uniformed men were and why they were in Lyons (includes research and technology).
