Funeral and Memorial for LaVern Johnson, May 25, 2022
The final arrangements were completed Wednesday, May 18th, and we are awaiting the official Schedule to be published here. In the meantime, this will give you information to “save the date.”
UPDATE: I have been told by Town staff that the Family does not want to publish the detailed Program at this time, and want it as a surprise for the day of the funeral.
Basic funeral and memorial schedule is as follows:
May 25, Wednesday.
Visitation: There will be a “viewing” at the Lyons Elementary School gymnasium 4- 5 pm. (Photos and items will be on display.) Walk through only. No service.
The Celebration of Life will be in LaVern Johnson Park (previously called Meadow Park, across from Town Hall) starting at 6:00 pm.
If you are local, the family asks that you consider walking or biking or via golf-cart so the public parking can be available for out-of-town guests.
The program is anticipated to last 90 minutes with light refreshments following. There will be a stage with 14 brief speakers who had significance experiences, a Christian funeral service, special songs, the school choir and band, and more. There will be folding chair seating.
An open mic is available following the program; and square dance exhibition will follow; there will be an opportunity to leave a video-tape comment.
** Attendees may wish to eat prior to the service as it will be 7:30 or 8:00 before the service ends. It will also be dark by about 7 p.m You may want to bring a jacket for the cool night.
She walked her talk. A true treasure. All the Angels that have been taking notes, now have the Genesis in front of them. God Speed my dear friend.
She was a spunky woman that I looked up to even though I only knew her a few years. When she stood up she commanded an audience and spoke with command. I thought she would live to 100. Will definitely miss her.
