ABOUT TOWN 3/17/22 – – for the Lyons Recorder online
Another week gone by..We had about a half inch of snow. It has snowed each week for 15 weeks. The water pipes will still freeze; be sure your water is dripping a little.
COVID marks two years in Colorado, with about 1.3 million people hospitalized with 12,500 deaths . We can now go without a mask, if we want to; however, they say it is best to wear a mask if inside with a crowd. Covid is still dangerous and very contagious. The new cases are down to 58 cases, where it was 351 cases last week. 351 people have died in Boulder County, with 11,718 deaths in Colorado, 57,808 In the hospitals, 3,922,873 are fully vaccinated but people are still getting it, but not so bad. Boulder County has dropped its mandate for those inside, and the schools have lifted the mandate of masks on buses. Let’s hope it is not a mistake
We hear from folks that have had it, and they are still having many problems..-seeing. headaches, stability, etc..it is a scary disease and you should avoid it, if possible They say people who have full vaccination are pretty safe; however you are encouraged to wear your mask if you would rather do so. We still need to beware!
The yearly meeting of the LYONS DITCH will be held at the Lyons Library on March 30th at 6pm. There is a lot of discussion over the large hotel building proposed for Lyons Main Street; of which they say they need to make it affordable; It was a long meeting, but overall, the board thought it was worthy of the 79 rooms (have to have that many to pay the bills)(; and the economy it will bring to the town-100 jobs Sales and Use Tax; property tax, building fees, etc. etc. all good for Lyons economy. The board voted 7-0, and it will now go the Development stage. Parking seemed to be the main problem , which the Town Board will heavily discuss, as well as if the Town has the utilities for such a large business. .There seem to be a lot residents who think it is too big; however, they need that many rooms to make it affordable, and they are the ones vouching for it.
The board will meet again on the 1000 camping spots at Planet Bluegrass; across the river from Planet Bluegrass with 5 house driveways coming out on Apple Valley Road. Stay tuned. \
