Contact these restaurants in Lyons for more information about music, and fun activities like, Poker Wednesday, acoustic jam sessions, Karaoke Friday, Open Mike, Art Fair, farm-to-table meals, Trivia Night …and, of course, LIVE MUSIC! and more being offered this summer — as they are able to hire more staff, more things will be added — The Stone Cup, Mojo Taqueria, Pizza Bar 66, A-Lodge Lyons (coming soon), Oskar Blues Bar and Grill (no music yet) and Main Stage Brewing.

Tuesday and Thursday – 12 noon – Boulder County Aging serves lunch at the Lyons Senior Center (Lyons seniors, ages 60 and up), located in the apartment complex next to the Post Office. You must call the day before by 1 p.m. to place an order (303) 441-1415. Donation of $3 suggested. (Guests pay $8.25) In 2021, meals are served on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Either order a carry out box, or come in at 12 noon and socialize and meet other seniors! Masks are required. == In January the schedule will switch over to meals on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. (This overrides any other postings here; final decision made on 12/15/21) **Lunches are served “as usual” during the Holiday week.**
Wednesdays – 3 to 5 p.m. – Food Pantry for those in need. Contact LEAF for more information. ====IMPORTANT NOTE: THE LYONS FOOD PANTRY WILL BE CLOSED DEC 22 AND DEC 29.
SENIOR EXERCISE – 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., free, LaVern Johnson Park. Free. For Lyons seniors 55+ === Contact Lramsey@townoflyons.com for details. === class now meeting at the Walt Self basement entrance (on the alley side of the building) every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 – 11:30 am. If the weather’s nice we’ll grab our hand weights and head outside to exercise or we’ll do a walk before heading inside for stretching and yoga. Masks are required inside the building. **Contact Lisa to see if this class is cancelled during the Holiday week**

NO SCHOOL – Christmas Vacation December 18 to January 5, 2022
CLOSURES ~~~
Christmas is on a Saturday and most businesses and government offices will be closed Friday, December 24. ~~~ Post Office locations nationwide will be closed on Christmas Day, Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021, and New Year’s Day, Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022. ~~~Boulder County offices will be closed: half-a-day on Thu Dec 23 2021. and all day for Christmas Day. Fri Dec 24 2021. Half-a-day New Year’s Eve Holiday on Thu Dec 30 2021; and full day December 31 for New Year’s Day Holiday. ~~~ Lyons Town Hall will be closed Friday, Dec 24 and the entire next week, Dec 27-31. Essential services will still be provided, according to the Town. ~~ And the Lyons library will be closed BOTH Fridays and Saturdays for the two holidays. ~~~ Lyons Food Pantry closed for the rest of the year 2021.

January 1st – HAPPY NEW YEAR!
January 1st -1 p.m. – Lyons annual Polar Plunge – Black Bear Hole. – Come jump in the freezing St. Vrain River, or join the crowd cheering them on. Bring a towel and/or robe. It will be 24 degrees and snowing! Coordinator Jason Stillman says “Perfect!” Many of the participants go to a local pub to warm up afterwards! **UPDATE** 12/31/21 – The organizers are quarantined due to COVID-19, but locals can join in with others and still take the plunge.
January 3, 2022 – RUN FOR BOARD of TRUSTEES or MAYOR (April) — Packets will be ready for pick up on Monday, January 3. Nomination petitions may be circulated beginning the same day. The filing deadline for nomination petitions is Jan. 24, 2022 at 5 p.m. — For individuals who are interested in learning more about becoming a candidate, the Lyons Regional Library and the Lyons Area Chamber of Commerce held a candidate information forum last month. The forum included expectations of time commitment and the role of a Board member.
January 3 at 8 a.m., highway CO 7 will again close to all traffic between Mile Points 23 and 29.5 for construction to continue. See our ARTICLE for more details.

January – *NOW Twice Monthly*2022 – Teen Advisory Group at Library
The library’s Teen Advisory Group (Grades 6-12) meets once a month after school. TAG members contribute to the development of the library’s Young Adult collection, help at library programs, and offer ideas for creating a comfortable, safe and fun atmosphere for teens at the library. Teens are able to earn volunteer hours for participation.

January 4, 10-11:30 a.m. Dementia Aware Series: Pain and Other Medication Assessments in a Person with Dementia (by Boulder County Aging Office) Description: Dementia professionals use a variety of tools to determine decline and remaining function in Persons With Dementia (PWD). Specific tools help us give physicians, nurses and caregiving staff a better picture of what is happening to the resident. Assessing for depression, anxiety, ADLs, IADLs, Pain, etc., keeps arguments out of the doctor’s office and helps us to assist families in understanding the disease process. Pain causes an estimated 50 percent of the behaviors in a PWD. Learn how to assess, plan and provide for pain treatment.

January 6 -4:30 – 6p.m. – MODEL KIT Building – at Lyons Library – free to kids of all ages. This is starting up again in the new year, with instructor Sonny Smith. Mark your calendar for the first Thursday of each month (this will not be repeated here) = Check with the library to make sure it is happening each month.
January 7 – BOOSTER SHOTS in LYONS – noon to 6 p.m. at the Lyons library, by: mobilevax.us site. Go to the library web page and click on the picture to make an appointment for ages 5-11; and walk-up adult boosters available while supplies last.– The library also has (periodically) COVID test kits for free; first come, first serve. — Note the library will be closed Friday and Saturday for New Year’s Eve/Day.
January 7 – Lyons Arts & Humanities – Artists invited to drop off their art work (and previous show’s artists to pick their’s up. ==**UPDATE** POSTPONED due to COVID-19 outbreak.

January 12, 5:30 – 7 p.m. tandem LAHC Community Art Shows’ reception is slated for Wednesday, and will launch the “Working Duo” exhibit featuring work by Jacob Adriaan Leeuwenburgh and Ann M. Hall, as well as the open Town Hall show themed, ”Free for All… Whatever Floats your Particular Boat.” **UPDATE** Postponed due to COVID-19 outbreak, statewide.
January 17 – Martin Luther King Day (most government offices will be closed)
January 18, Tuesday! – 7 p.m. – on Zoom – Town Board of Trustee meeting.
January 19 – 6:30 p.m. – Lyons Library “Busy Readers” book club. “The Sparrow,” by Mary Doria Russell. The library has several copies of the book to take out. it will be both in the library and on Zoom. Reserve your spot.
January 24, 5p.m. – deadline to hand in your Application/Nomination forms to Town Hall to run for Board of Trustees in April’s election.
