The last time the state found more cases was in early December 2020. She believes that since it is spreading so fast, that it will run out of people to infect, and it will last weeks instead of months, and therefore, people should be more willing to weather it out and wear high quality masks.

New Quarantine Rules
The CDC issued new guidelines December 23:
==If you are positive but asymptomatic, you quarantine for 5 days and wear a mask everywhere for 5 days.
==If you are exposed but got the Booster shot, no need to quarantine
==If you were exposed but are unvaccinated, you need to quarantine for 5 days, and wear a mask everywhere for 5 days.
The details are confusing and criticized by many of the public and some experts.
The CDC says that the new Omicron variant has a shorter contagious period (transmission declines after day 5), plus other factors learned, making them announce this new period; and this will help businesses, airlines, hospitals, and more who are shorthanded due to the fast spread of Omicron operate at a higher capacity.
WARNING: The NIH NEW study found that the virus enters the air waves and goes into every organ system in the body and stays there for months. — So, don’t be careless thinking that the Omicron variant is not as bad, and you can survive it, no problem.
Fast moving Omicron virus’ statistics
On Monday, Los Angeles had 3,000 new cases; on Friday (alone) they had 10,000 new cases. In one week, 8,500 people died. — On 12/27/21 the STATE had 49,394 new cases.
New York, and NY City
Jumped each day drastically, starting with 23,000 cases the week before Christmas, and going to 44,000 cases in 2 days.

and 821,000 deaths (up 2,494)
It is by far the #1 country for cases and deaths.
(India is second with 34.8 million)
The CDC predicts that there will be 21,000 deaths in the next TWO WEEKS. There are 240,000 NEW cases per day. FIVE States are reporting more new cases NOW than ANY OTHER DATE. There were 200,000 new KID cases in the US last week. 59 percent of all new cases in the US are Omicron. (Rapid tests may not show Omicron, so the number may be higher).
Emergence of Omicron On November 24, 2021, a new variant of SARS-CoV-2, B.1.1.529, was reported to the World Health Organization (WHO). This new variant was first detected in specimens collected on November 11, 2021 in Botswana and on November 14, 2021 in South Africa. (per the CDC)
The variant is too new to have in-depth studies which would enable scientists to make solid predictions about how many deaths might occur, how long it will last, if the patients will have “long haul” effects, etc. Stay tuned.
The Booster shot (or “3rd vaccine”) is 95 to 98 percent effective against Omicron; it takes approximately two weeks to be fully effective. There are many “break through” cases still happening, but they are less severe, and the persons infected will not need hospitalization.
The newly approved pill is meant to be taken after you’ve experienced COVID-19 symptoms. There are no serious side effects. It is meant to be taken mainly by high-risk adults.
The patient will take four capsules, twice a day, for five days
When the drug enters your bloodstream, it blocks the ability of the SARS-CoV-2 virus to replicate.
