NO SCHOOL – Christmas Vacation Dec. 18th to January 5, 2022;
The Year of 2021 is coming to an end..and we are not sorry. Thousands have died of COVID; now the Omicron is prevalent; We are still “staying in” after 2 years..afraid of catching it. However, it is enheartening that Pfizer has a pill coming out that we can take, should take it as soon as possible, which helps with the worse case of the illness. So take care..Don’t catch the Virus. Everything is slow due to the COVID; we should continue to wear masks and social distance.
The New Year of 2022 is winding around, day after day. In April there will be a Town Board election..an interesting occupation; you learn what all the town is up to; how they pay for things; where their funds come from; and the grants received due to the Flood. We are getting near the last Recovery project-the 4th Street Footbridge. The residents in the Confluence will certainly be happy to have that bridge built.
Thanks to the town for all the Recovery projects and infrastructure..it had indeed been a tremendous job. Also, thanks to those who restored their homes, built up 3.5 feet so they can live in them, now fixing their yards.. Although it has taken Lyons nine years, you can’t get Lyons down..”We have Grit”!
The students had 2 weeks off for Christmas vacation; School starts this coming Monday, Jan. 5th So back to getting up early, hopping on the bus in the dark, and for the teachers of trying to get that education in your heads, so you can become “self sustaining” citizens..
One thing we should all look to is the Vandalism and who is doing it. Help us catch them. Our parks have been damaged, and for what..It costs us all money! We are very proud of our parks..tourists pour into our parks each weekend. as they can not find any other place so beautiful to picnic, eat, play in..
A NEW YEAR’S TIP: To our youth, or whoever, is doing the vandalism is, if caught, you will have a Record, which will be against your chances of getting into college or getting a grant, and it will be hard to get finances for college, or even get into college. They want respectable people in their colleges, not those tearing up things! Please, have respect for our parks, for other people’s property, for each other; and keep the police and a record off your door.
BASKETBALL. Both boys and girls will be playing basketball as well as wrestling this winter, go to their games, interesting. Your presence encourages them to do better. Good Luck Teams
FOOTBALL: Two Lyons Players, Finn Oetting and Maregu Sullivan both Sophomores, have been chosen Honorable Mention on the All-Region Boulder County Football team. Our Congratulations.
CHURCH: The Lyons community Church will hold its Sunday Service at 4pm; this Sunday, Jan. 4th, with Pastor Emily Hagan, followed by a Potluck dinner, All invited
BIRTHDAYS: Steve Good; Carol Groves; Lily Kincaid; Mark Boys.
SYMPATHY: Deb Simms and her sister Darlene put on a funeral service for their mother in Cheyenne, WY; 23 relatives came from other states to pay their respects.
COVID & OMICRON is worse than over with 1353 new cases in Boulder County over the weekend. Please get vaccinated, wear your masks, social distance. We have to stop this somehow, and we need a united front to do so.
The Lyons Town Board will meet this Monday, Jan. 3, at 7pm, on Zoom.
LYONS GOOD OLD DAYS Mark your calendars for the LYONS GOOD OLD DAY, SATURDAY, JUNE 25TH, where all alumni and past and present residents are invited.
