Tuesday and Thursday – 12 noon – Boulder County Aging serves lunch at the Lyons Senior Center (Lyons seniors, ages 60 and up), located in the apartment complex next to the Post Office. You must call the day before by 1 p.m. to place an order (303) 441-1415. Donation of $3 suggested. (Guests pay $8.25) Either order a carry out box, or come in at 12 noon and socialize and meet other seniors! — cancelled on Holidays.

SENIOR EXERCISE – 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., free, LaVern Johnson Park. Free. For Lyons seniors 55+ === Contact Lramsey@townoflyons.com for details. === class now meeting at the Walt Self basement entrance (on the alley side of the building) every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 – 11:30 am. If the weather’s nice we’ll grab our hand weights and head outside to exercise or we’ll do a walk before heading inside for stretching and yoga. Masks are required inside the building. — Cancelled on Holidays.

December 2 – Dec. 2 to Feb. 14 — CONTEMP ARAPAHO ARTISTS: The Museum of Boulder is excited to host a group show of contemporary artwork by Arapaho artists–the first of its kind in the area. Be one of the first to see this exciting exhibit and have the chance to meet some of the artists and hear more about their artwork and process in an artist panel at 5:30.
Doors open at 5. Artist panel begins at 5:30. $10 FEE.
December 1 – opening day – HOLIDAY LIGHTS CONTEST: Sponsored by the Lyons Chamber. Deadline to enter is December 11. Then, see their map, and you can visit the homes, have fun, as well as VOTE between December 14- January 5, for your favorite! December 4-5, 10 a.m. to 4pm. The Lyons Redstone Museum will open its doors to sell gifts, nick-knacks, Christmas items, and LaVern’s Famous Never Fail Fudge, and cupcakes. She will also have it for sale at the corner of 4th and Main (the Lyons Community Church), during the parade.
December 4 and 5, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. = LYONS Holiday Artisan Market – Lyons annual quality craft fair; this year it is juried; and, the tables are social distanced. See our ARTICLE for full details.
December 4, 6 p.m. – LYONS Holiday Lights Parade, with floats. This year it will not go down Broadway, but will go from Main Street to High Street. See our ARTICLE for full details. Fireworks cancelled due to drought and fire danger.
December 5, 1-4 p.m. – Boulder County LGBT – The 21st annual Lavender Gala will be held virtually again this year. Participants can expect to mix and mingle in a breakout group trivia competition from 2-3 p.m. and dance to music with DJ Susie Pringle, in between interactive games from 3-4 p.m. Prizes and giveaways throughout. December 7 – Colorado Gives Day – Donate to your favorite nonprofit! Many of them have opportunities to double or increase your donation.
December 9, 6:00pm – The library’s Teen Advisory Group (Grades 6-12) meets once a month after school. TAG members contribute to the development of the library’s Young Adult collection, help at library programs, and offer ideas for creating a comfortable, safe and fun atmosphere for teens at the library. Teens are able to earn volunteer hours for participation.
December 11, 12-3p.m. – Bring your pups down to Gateway Realty Group, 324 Main St., for a special doggy treat and a photo op with Santa Claus!! We’ll have warm drinks and yummy treats for our human friends as well. This event is FREE, however, please consider dropping a donation for one of our favorite Lyons nonprofits, LEAF, Lyons Emergency & Assistance Fund!

December 12 – CHRISTMAS PAGEANT – Lyons Community Church – Sunday service features children performing! Dec.5 — 3:00pm rehearsal, Dec. 12 —10:00am presentation. Open to all.
December 14 – PRAIRIE DOG MANAGEMENT: Boulder County Parks & Open Space will host its annual public meeting concerning prairie dog management on Bo Co Parks & Open Space properties from 5 to 6:30 p.m. — Staff will be available to discuss the variety of activities conducted in 2021 and how the department manages prairie dogs on open space properties, including agricultural lands. December 14 – Fresh Conversations: Please join Patricia Murphy, Registered Dietitian with Boulder County Area Agency on Aging, December 14th from 1-2 p.m. to talk about “Use it or Lose it- Maintaining Muscle Strength with Aging.” Register using the link found here: https://forms.office.com/g/R0kF813XuF
Wednesday, Dec 15: Jazz Band at WILDFLOWER PAVILION at Planet Bluegrass. We will have the FED Food Truck; as well as a cash/card bar. They are sharing this concert with Westview Middle School’s Jazz Band (Band Leader Gregg says, ”Sharing concerts is very popular in the School District (SVVSD), and I wanted to let another school enjoy the amazing pavilion at planet bluegrass. It’s good for our kids to see/hear other students perform.”). Doors open at 6p.m. (food and drinks available then) and music starts at 7p.m. This is their first time doing this, and they want to pack the house so that it can become a regular thing for to enjoy. December 18 – 1 – 3p.m. – Blue Holiday gathering with the horses. The holidays can be a difficult time when you are grieving. Finding LIGHT in December “Horses, Blessings and Grief: A Blue Holiday Gathering.” Loss a love one / recently divorced / life changing event / longing for a place to feel your loss with judgement or having to explain yourself? / tired of pretending you are “OK” during the holiday celebrations and gatherings? An afternoon filled with ritual, healing tea, horse wisdom and safe space to process in the beautiful foothills setting. === We are a small ranch setting in the mountains 10 minutes northwest of the town of Lyons. All activities are outdoors. No cost. Donations welcome. Sponsored by Dancing Spirit and Anoint; Rev. Jackie Hibbard and Rev. Nancy Niero, will co-lead. Both have experienced loss.
