Lyons Catholic Community, a Roman Catholic church, and part of the Archdiocese of Denver, is celebrating its 40th year in Lyons, Colorado, providing Mass celebration to the Lyons and surrounding mountain areas since 1981.
Since we are a relatively small, “mission parish”, we have a rotating schedule of Priests who we are responsible for finding and scheduling ourselves.
We are part of the St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Longmont, and our Pastor is Rev. Jim Crisman.
We are tenants of the Lyons Methodist Church on Main Street, but our parish started out in the fellowship hall on the west side of the Old Stone Church. Lyons Community Church has been wonderful, and we treasure our relationship. We recently donated funds for one of their new windows.
A special thank you to Mark Boys, and Pastor Emily Hagan, Lyons Community Church, and to our remaining founding members Carole Namesnik, Evelyn and Gene Leistiko.
We are governed by a group of volunteer members who have worked hard to keep things going all these years.
Our service to the Lyons community has been regular support of LEAF and the emergency food pantry, especially during the flood recovery efforts.
We’ve provided meals for the Lyons Senior Center, and to occasional donations for special needs of locals who were struggling.
We have provided sacraments and spiritual resources to locals, including weddings and funerals.
Our regular, weekly Mass is held 5:30 on Saturday evenings.
We look forward to another 40 years in our beloved Lyons.
