Contact these restaurants in Lyons for more information about music, and fun activities like, trivia, Poker Wednesday, acoustic jam sessions, Karaoke Friday, Open Mike, Art Fair, farm-to-table meals …and, of course, LIVE MUSIC! and more being offered this summer — as they are able to hire more staff, more things will be added — The Stone Cup, Mojo Taqueria, Pizza Bar 66, A-Lodge Lyons (coming soon), Oskar Blues Bar and Grill (no music yet) and Main Stage Brewing.
===ONGOING THIS WEEK===
Tuesday and Thursday – 12 noon – Boulder County Aging serves lunch at the Lyons Senior Center (Lyons seniors, ages 60 and up). You must call the day before by 1 p.m. to place an order (303) 441-1415. Donation of $3 suggested. (Guests pay $8.25) Either order a carry out box, or come in and socialize and meet other seniors!
Wednesdays – 3 to 5 p.m. – Food Pantry for those in need. Contact LEAF for more information.
SENIOR EXERCISE – *NEW* TIME – 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., free, LaVern Johnson Park. Free. For Lyons seniors 55+ Contact Lramsey@townoflyons.com for details. === On Tuesdays we do circuit training, alternating between 1 minute aerobic exercises, 1 minute exercises with hand weights, and some balance work. On Thursdays we start out with a 30 minute walk in the park and surrounding areas. Both classes end with some gentle yoga. This class is FREE for seniors and parking is also free at the park during the class.

October 14, 6-8 p.m. virtual – Join us for a free virtual workshop offering everything you need to know about successful garden cleanup and backyard composting in the fall. We will cover lots of tips and information for putting your garden to bed and maintaining your compost pile with plenty of time for your questions.=== The workshop will cover each of the following topics:
• Cleaning up the vegetable garden
• Getting perennials ready for winter
• Winterizing your backyard compost pile
• Preparing for spring composting

October 14 – SOUP fundraiser for Estes VALLEY Crisis Advocates that helps abused women, including housing, and services for victims of crime and trauma. Buy soup in a bowl; pick it up at Egg & I (lots more details; please click the link)
October 15, 1-2:30 p.m. (online) Supporting Kid’s (age 10 and under) Mental Health: Join Child and Family Specialist Jen Nelson, Research will be presented on how COVID-19 has impacted young children and families. Presenters will outline tools and strategies for caregivers to respond to young children’s mental health needs and mitigate the long-term effects of stress. Free. Register for the event in advance! October 16, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Longmont. Dickens Horror Movie Festival.
October 16-17, SAT 9-5 SUN 10-4 p.m. Mollie McGee’s Fine Craft Market, Boulder Fair grounds in Longmont – I know there are a lot of crafters out there who will recognize the name Mollie McGee! It is one of the best craft markets in the state – 160 booths, unique handmade items, $5 admission for both days, but they also have a coupon on their website.
October 19, 10-11 a.m. Better Together; Discuss Your COVID Experience: Looking for a place to connect with others about the things you’ve experienced during Covid? Join us for non-clinical discussion groups about the impact the pandemic has had on our lives. The group will meet altogether at the beginning, then break out into three focus groups: (a) non-medical essential workers, (b) those who have intimate experiences with loss from COVID, and (c) a general group for discussion about anxiety and loss during COVID. Medical essential workers are welcome to attend and join groups (b) or (c). free, (Mental Health Partners)
October 19, 5:15 p.m. CELEBRATE LIBRARY’s SOLAR Panel: Join us in welcoming Sandbox Solar for a ribbon cutting ceremony for our new solar array! Light refreshments served by the Friends of the Library. All-ages welcome. (note, A solar array is simply the collection of solar panels that make up a system.) Speakers from the Library and Sandbox Solar (the company that installed the panels) to explain the reasoning behind the installation, a few technical details, and to hopefully answer any questions from the community.
October 20, 3:30 p.m. Join the Lyons Historic Preservation Commission on October 20 at 3:30 PM for a Porch Talk! This event will take the form of a walking tour and discussion (approx. 1 hour). While we walk around town, we will consider the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion from the perspective of local history and the field of historic preservation. We will explore topics including the legacy of the KKK in Lyons and Colorado, local Native American history and bias in the historical record, and implicit and institutional bias in the field of historic preservation. Meet in front of the library.

October 23, 2:00 p.m. Fred Payne Clatworthy BOOK – author to speak – Join the Estes Park Museum and local author, Richelle Cross Force as she discusses her book, Fred Payne Clatworthy: Colorado’s Color Photography Pioneer. The book explores the life and work of local photographer Fred Payne Clatworthy. (masks required) No registration required. ==“In the early 1900s Clatworthy was one of the first Americans to use the autochrome, the first practical form of color photography, and to be commercially successful with it. A notable landscape photographer in both color and black and white, he traveled the equivalent of twenty-five times around the globe capturing scenes for audiences numbering in the thousands. National Geographic magazine published six series of his autochromes featuring images of Rocky Mountain Ntl Park, Mesa Verde, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. During his65-year career, he operated a photography studio, gift shop and ice cream parlor in Estes Park, Colorado. “====

October 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, Drug Take Back Day, in Lyons: National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is Saturday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Boulder County Sheriff’s Substation in Lyons, 430 Park Ave. Please do not flush unused, unwanted, and expired medications down the toilet or put them in drains!

October 30 – Saturday, Lyons Spooktacular = 4-5:30 p.m. There will be games at the elementary school playground.== Then people should line up there at 5:45 p.m., and proceed to Main Street (and High Street) for the parade at 6:00 p.m. ==6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Many shops will be open afterward to distribute goodies to the costumed kids. The Vet has treats for dogs in costume (as well as a costume contest). Contact Kim Mitchell at Town Hall if you have questions. Both the Town and school will follow COVID protocols in place.
October 30 – LEAF fundraiser party – Rave to Grave 2021 – Mark your calendars: Community favorite, Rave to the Grave, is happening in-person on October 30 beginning at 7 p.m. Join us in Lavern Johnson Park in Lyons, CO for this free event (suggested donation of $20) benefiting LEAF. Galactic Dance Party; live music; costumes are encouraged. Arthur Lee Land + gogoLab perform.
