August 30 to September 10, two weeks of closures; project to be completed by end of October.
The road to the recycle center will be closed, and traffic will be re-routed to a new temporary road further down, off 2nd Avenue.
The road to Bohn Park will be closed, and people should park in the large “overflow” parking lot next to the recycle center, and walk to the park. Watch for signs showing the designated trails.
Residents in Lyons Valley Park will need to go to highway 36 and go down 2nd Avenue in order to access the recycling center.
Per Kim Mitchell, Town of Lyons Director of Community Relations, regarding the two month period, “The road will close intermittently for these two weeks for big equipment and to dig the access for the stormwater. But construction in the area will continue through October (road open, but with construction). The road should be open for the busy holiday weekend (Labor Day) and to get to the community BBQ at the high school this weekend.”

Bohn Park Stormwater Improvements – Closure begins August 30
This project entails enlarging the storm detention ponds in Bohn Park and installing new larger storm drain between the ponds as well as their connection to the storm drain system on 2nd Avenue. The current schedule begins this week and is scheduled to be complete by the end of October.
This week crews will begin prepping the area for closures the next week. This includes the construction of a temporary access driveway into the Wastewater Treatment Plant parking lot.
Beginning on August 30th, 2nd Avenue will be fully closed between the Wastewater Treatment Plant driveway to approximately 100’ south on the Bohn Park Entrance. The waterline relocation and storm drain installation under 2nd Ave will continue for several weeks. Residents in Lyons Valley Park will need to go around the closure (via US-36) and enter over the new 2nd Ave Bridge in order to access the recycling center
