live bands family fun Silent Auction tent Defined Motion community dancing food trucks
Lots of smiling faces at the first annual Hootenanny this past Saturday! Kids running and playing. People dancing to live music. Everyone enjoying a cup of ice cream or a lobster roll. Competitions right and left, with the Corn Hole Toss, the Duck Race, and the Silent Auction.
Defined Motion not only put on a short performance, but they got everyone on their feet to do a little choreographed dance. Two live bands performed, first Blue Canyon Boys set the stage with mellow music, and Taarka ended the day with their own version of mellow music.
Lyons Community Foundation and Lyons Emergency & Assistance Fund made it easy to donate money to their good causes. First, a $5 donation at the parking lot. Then a $5 donation to buy a duck in the $50 race. Plus, an amazing Silent Auction with many big prizes, such as a week in a condo, a Sally King ‘bear’ painting, a farm-to-table dinner, RockyGrass tickets, and some spa services, to name just a few. And, the bidders weren’t hesitant about raising their bids.
While the event was free, it raised $23,000 (about half of that from the Auction)! And, many thanks to Mike Whip and Betsy Burton for donating River’s Edge property to the event. The vast grassy area was covered in people laughing, walking the river’s edge, and having a good time. Thank you to the following businesses for stepping up to cover all of our costs and then some: Cemex, Green Goo, 24-7 Restoration, Tucker Group Real Estate, City Star Brewing, Lyons Dairy Bar, Moss Rock Development, St.Vrain Market, Brian McCann Real Estate, Gateway Realty Group and Lyons Communications.
