April 1 to May 24: The Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission – call for submissions – Lyons Poetry in Public Places Contest. The theme is “Finding joy and beauty in Lyons.” Selected poems will be chosen to be published on posters and displayed in various businesses and community centers throughout the Town of Lyons. Tuesday and Thursday – 12:15 p.m. – Boulder County Aging serves a boxed lunch to-go at the Lyons Senior Center (Lyons seniors, ages 65 and up). You must call the day before by 1 p.m. to place an order (303) 441-1415.
Wednesday– 3 to 5 p.m. – Food Pantry for those in need. Drive up to the Lyons Community Church front doors, and someone will come out to your car and help you. Wear a mask and stay in your car. Contact LEAF for more information. **NOTE** The service will return to in-person pick up, inside the building on June 1st.
Wednesday – 11 a.m. LYONS WEDNESDAY WALKERS: The Town of Lyons Recreation Department = small group of seniors, 55 years and older, meets at the Senior Center at 11 a.m. and walk to a park and do some light exercises. Contact Lramsey@townoflyons.com

May 20 – 1 p.m. – LEAF Mental Wellness group discussion online = Summer is here, and it’s time to review the foundational basics of our well-being. Topics will include practical methods for daily self-care, sleep hygiene, how to stay flexible and resilient during all the new COVID-19 changes, and interactive feedback about in-person group meetings coming soon. May 20 – 3 p.m. – Exploring Resources 101: For When You Don’t Know Where to Start / by Mental Health Partners. Join us to learn about useful sites and strategies while looking for basic need/supportive resources in Colorado’s Boulder and Broomfield counties. We will cover a variety of resources pertaining to things such as transportation, ID vouchers, Medicaid, food, and more. In addition, you may request and acquire information regarding resources you may need. There will also be a Q+A portion. (free) online.

May 22 – 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Rocky Mountain Botanic Gardens Plant Sale Fundraiser = Where: At the Rocky Mountain Botanic Gardens, near the corner of Prospect St. and 4th Ave, Lyons, along the path to Bohn Park. — Brighten up your garden and help our natural pollinators with beautiful, low-water native plants while supporting efforts to build a public garden in Lyons! Garden volunteers will be on hand throughout the day to make recommendations and swap growing tips. Visitors will be able to explore the Gardens while they shop. Come play games and chat with the MHP Outreach team about what it’s like to stay strong on the front lines as we move through the era of COVID-19 and following the recent, tragic events in Boulder. June 14 – 1-2 p.m. – For Lyons Seniors – The topic for June is “Fat can be Heart Healthy”. Fresh Conversations is an evidence-based nutrition education program focused on timely nutrition topics presented monthly. Fresh Conversations is led by Patti Murphy, RDN. June 12 – 12 noon to 3 p.m. – Summer Artisan Market and Mini Farmer’s Market, happening in Bohn Park Vendor spaces are still available, so register soon! Dechen Hawk: Live music.== Artisan Market: Join us for a day of locally sourced art and gifts along the river. Local artisans will sell quality crafts, jewelry, photograph,pttery, glass, and textile arts. This event will run in conjunction with a Mini-Farmer’s Market, and will feature live music. Social distancing and all covid-19 regulations must be adhered to at all times. (NOTE this is in place of GOOD OLD DAYS; this is a Town sponsored event). June 19 – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – First Annual Lyons Garden Tour – tickets now available. The Lyons Garden Club is pleased to announce its first annual Garden Tour, Mountain Blooms . The variety of gardens on the tour will offer inspiration to everyone who visits them. It’s an opportunity to learn what plants thrive in our climate and explore outstanding creative spaces and gain fun landscaping tips. There will be about 11 homes open, with a self-guided map. The tickets are free, but we encourage you to support the club with your donation. ***Having trouble signing up? NEW: You can show up the day of the event to buy tickets, but it might be sold out.***
June 26 – no Good Old Days due to pandemic. See above Artisan Market as a “replacement.”
SANDSTONE CONCERTS – July 1, weekly Thursdays to August 12 (7 in all). There may be “pods” to make for social distancing. See a full article on this in an upcoming Lyons Recorder article. (free)

The Cameron Peak Fire caused trail damage to over 100 miles of trails in the Canyon Lakes Ranger District. The public work days this year will consist mainly of removing downed trees from the trail so that the trail may be opened and be safe for the public. Some of the work will be physically challenging but much of the work can be done by anyone of generally good physical shape. PWV will provide all tools and crew leaders for each work crew. Further information will be provided for the specific work day, including trail location and other logistics.
