Longmont Museum announces full season this summer

The Longmont Museum officially announced their summer season today with the release of their Summer 2021 Newsletter. This season marks a full, in-person reopening of the Museum, which has been limited to virtual programming for much of the past year.
Programming includes their popular historic Longmont walking tours, led by Curator of History Erik Mason. The Museum will host custom “Historic 3rd Avenue” tours and “Historic Downtown” tours, with a special emphasis on commemorating the 150th anniversary of Longmont’s founding, beginning June 2. Advanced registration is required.
The Museum’s free annual Summer Concert Series, held in their outdoor courtyard, also resumes in person this season. Concerts will be held every Thursday night from June 17 – July 29 at 6:30 p.m. Performers are both up-and-coming local bands and established regional and national musicians including, Tierro Band with Bridget Law of Elephant Revival, Foxfeather, the 101st Army Dixieland Band, After Midnight, Antonio Lopez, Rusty 44 Band and Tiffany Christopher. Music ranges from bluegrass, to jazz, to folk and even military repertoire. Seating is limited, and reservations are recommended. The concerts will also be available via livestream from Facebook, the Museum’s website, and Longmont Channel 8/880.
The Longmont Museum’s season also includes summer camp with programs in art, history, science, and culture for children ages 3 – 16, held both in person and virtually.
The Museum’s exhibit of original work by Impressionist painters Monet, Degas, and Pissarro, “Enduring Impressions,” will also continue this summer. The exhibit, which requires timed-ticket entry, is on view through July 18. Additionally, the Museum will return to normal gallery hours — Monday – Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 – 5 p.m. with additional evening hours on Thursdays from 5 – 9 p.m. — beginning June 1.
“We are thrilled to be cautiously opening our doors wider and can’t wait to see our members and friends in person at the Museum this summer,” said Longmont Museum Director Kim Manajek. “With the bulk of our signature programs taking place outdoors, it couldn’t be a more perfect time to welcome everyone back.”
Precautions for safety at the Museum continue, including enhanced cleaning, limitations on the number of people allowed in the building at a time, signage for physical distancing, and required masks for visitors age 3 and older.
