== Meet some awesome Lyons people who love to be outside, love to garden, and love to have their Town look wonderful!
== By hand-removing the weeds, you will help the town residents and Board with their goal to not use pesticides, as much as possible.
== You will learn what are weeds, what are wildflowers.
== Weeds steal precious soil space from other plants == cast shadows over others that will block sunlight == and suck up nutrients from the soil, often times creating zones of infertility around them so other plants can’t germinate there.
== Weeds are harmful to human beings: certain weeds cause irritation of skin, allergy and poisoning in human beings. ==Weeds can harm wildlife and pets as they pass through and/or try to munch on them.
Lyons Weed Posse
Lyons Weed Posse
We go to different spots in town, and you will learn about areas of your town that you may not be familiar with, such as the Loop Trail, and the cemetery. Later you can point with pride to spots that were weeded to your family and friends.
The Weed Posse will begin its SIXTH year May 6, meeting on THURSDAYS, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Weather permitting, May through October.
What to Bring: Wear sturdy shoes, hat, gloves and sunscreen. Bring basic tools and water. Continue to stay safe by wearing masks and keeping 6 feet apart.
This changes each time and is announced on Lyons Happenings, Facebook Page.
You can also get on the e-mail list to be notified.
Volunteers are welcome! Just come on down! (weather permitting)
