Weeding adventures begin in Lyons for 2021
BENEFITS:
== Meet some awesome Lyons people who love to be outside, love to garden, and love to have their Town look wonderful!
== By hand-removing the weeds, you will help the town residents and Board with their goal to not use pesticides, as much as possible.
== You will learn what are weeds, what are wildflowers.
== Weeds steal precious soil space from other plants == cast shadows over others that will block sunlight == and suck up nutrients from the soil, often times creating zones of infertility around them so other plants can’t germinate there.
== Weeds are harmful to human beings: certain weeds cause irritation of skin, allergy and poisoning in human beings. ==Weeds can harm wildlife and pets as they pass through and/or try to munch on them.

LYONS DIG DAYS (Dandy Lyons) are held the first Friday of each month—a local group of volunteers working to help keep our parks and our people healthy. Meet by the zipline in LaVern M Johnson Park. Held outside with social distancing and masks. The day will start with a brief weed ID and directions; then weed a couple of hours; then coffee. All invited.
