April 1 to May 24: The Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission – call for submissions – Lyons Poetry in Public Places Contest. The theme is “Finding joy and beauty in Lyons.” Selected poems will be chosen to be published on posters and displayed in various businesses and community centers throughout the Town of Lyons. Lyons DIG Days: (Dandy Lyons) pull weeds in LaVern Johnson Park: held the first Friday of each month, at 9:45 a.m.
===ONGOING THIS WEEK===
Monday Night 5 – 5:30 p.m. – FREE Supper. last supper April 19th. The Church may reopened its MANA CAFE on Saturdays in May.
Need a warm, home-cooked meal? The River Church serves free Monday night supper (in a box) to those who need one. Stop by the Walt Self Senior Center to pick it up. Call the church to reserve a meal (303) 823-6469. You do not need to be a senior; just “in need of a hot meal.”
Tuesday and Thursday – 12:15 p.m. – Boulder County Aging serves a boxed lunch to-go at the Lyons Senior Center (Lyons seniors, ages 65 and up). You must call the day before by 1 p.m. to place an order (303) 441-1415.
Wednesday– 3 to 5 p.m. – Food Pantry for those in need. Drive up to the Lyons Community Church front doors, and someone will come out to your car and help you. Wear a mask and stay in your car. Contact LEAF for more information.
Wednesday – 11 a.m. LYONS WEDNESDAY WALKERS: The Town of Lyons Recreation Department = small group of seniors, 55 years and older, meets at the Senior Center at 11 a.m. and walk to a park and do some light exercises. Contact Lramsey@townoflyons.com

April 15 – 3-4 p.m. – Exploring Resources 101: For When You Don’t Know Where to Start = Join us to learn about useful sites and strategies while looking for basic need/supportive resources in Colorado’s Boulder and Broomfield counties. We will cover a variety of resources pertaining to things such as transportation, ID vouchers, Medicaid, food, and more. In addition, you may request and acquire information regarding resources you may need. There will also be a Q+A portion for further concerns or questions. (by Mental Health Partners)
April 15 – 7:30 p.m. – Talk on Impressionist Paintings – part of Longmont Museum free Thursday “Talks” Denver Art Museum joins Longmont museum professionals to discuss the exhibit and Impressionist art.

April 21, 10 – 11:30 a.m. – Book Discussion: famous landscape artist == Fred Payne Clatworthy (1875-1953) was a landscape photographer in Estes Park, Colorado == The 1917 Book Club of the Estes Park Museum will be discussing on the book online.== Join the 1917 Book Club as they discuss the title, “Fred Payne Clatworthy: Colorado’s Color Photography Pioneer” with author, Richelle Cross Force. April 26, 10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. – LYONS BLOOD DRIVE. When you donate, you are part of something bigger than yourself. The ultimate pay-it-forward moment. April 29 is the last scheduled “Thursday Programs” at 7:30p.m. at the Longmont Museum.

April 30 – Free Admission day to Golden Train Museum. These free admission days are an arrangement between the Colorado Railroad Museum and Boulder County.
May – Multiple School Senior Events are coming in May — May 14 – 7 p.m. – Senior Night – The school will be conducting an outdoor ticketed Senior Night event to celebrate our seniors. (the car parade is not scheduled yet and needs adults to volunteer to run it).
May 9 – Mothers Day! Tell your mom you love her! and give her a big (non covid) hug!
