LYONS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
MESSAGE from PRINCIPAL Andrew Moore
A huge thanks to our PTO this year. They’ve weathered COVID with grace, hosting virtual meetings, supporting our teachers with abundance, and beautifying our school, inside and out. Peak around the campus in the next few weeks to find hundreds of bulbs erupting.
Looking ahead, we’ve got a great surprise in store for our community. Throughout the year, Mrs. Russ’ art students have been hard at work on a school wide art project honoring first responders and those lost to COVID. The beautiful project will be showcased in the next issue of the SVVSD magazine!
Parents, outdoor supervision ends at 2:50, and we expect the students to be picked up/on the bus/walking home by that time. If you choose to have your kiddo(s) play on the playground, please be on campus after school. We do not have the ability to supervise, and we want to maintain student safety. It is OK for another parent to watch your child, but please be sure that someone is present to help if there are any problems.
BINGO & BASKET RAFFLE
On April 1st we will be holding our Family Virtual Bingo Night and Basket Raffle. Bingo cards will be sent home and an online link to the event provided. WE NEED RAFFLE BASKET DONATIONS! Ticket Order forms went home last week but we need your donations to FILL THEM UP! Click on the information below to see what our Basket Themes are for this year….
UPDATE 3/19/21 – ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S DECISION ON SNOW DAYS: Message from Principal: This week’s Remote Learning Days (#notsnowdays) marked a poignant end to this portion of the year, which has been filled with so many interruptions, from pandemic, to fire, to snow. It was great to see so many of our students log in and complete their activities – we had very high levels of participation.
LYONS MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL
MESSAGE from PRINCIPAL ANDREA SMITH
NOW ONLY IN THE CLASSROOM
Two weeks ago our district announced that all secondary schools would be returning 4 days per week in-person (Monday-Thursday) with asynchronous Fridays. Students will also still have the option to commit to attending school remotely from home. There will no longer be a hybrid option! Students will either be full time in person or full time at home. We are working hard to prepare for this full return in a way that keeps students safe and healthy. To that end, if students are planning to attend remotely for all of Quarter 4, we need a parent to fill out the google form linked below. — 3/12/21
UPDATE 3/19/21 =Congratulations to Arjen and Zack C. who were accepted into BOTH All State Band and All State Orchestra. ==Thank you to all who provided donations to our LEAF drive – we gathered 126 pounds of goods to support families in our community!
See last month’s “SCHOOL NEWS” article for information on:
1. BINGO is back – weekly (play or volunteer)
2. Annual membership (renewal)
NOTE about BINGO-and-COVID: They currently allow up to 100 players. We had 77 yesterday which was a good turn-out. They have completely remodeled the Bingo Hall and it looks amazing. They are extremely strict with COVID protocol. Each player has their own table (family members can sit together), everyone wears masks, and when not seated every player must stay 6-feet apart. It has never been cleaner!…Alison
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PTO:
We’ve had a tremendous response to our request for people interested in being part of the PTO Board, and our board positions are filling in. However, we always welcome more parents for special committees such as Jogathon, Hospitality, Discovery Fair, Talent Show, Bingo and more. If you’re interested in learning more, contact Chastidee at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you to all of you who have volunteered your time to help us supply our amazing, hardworking teachers with snacks each week. As of right now, we have just one volunteer slot left to fill for the rest of the school year: the last week of school! If you’d like to purchase and deliver treats for the teachers’ lounge (you will be reimbursed), please sign up here: http://bit.ly/Snacks_For_LES. Each week has a $100 budget. Snacks should be delivered on Monday morning between 7:45-8am. Please pay with your own form of payment and then submit your receipt to the PTO for reimbursement (email to email@example.com). Please note that items must be single servings and be individually packaged for health and safety reasons.
