Lyons High School spring sports, March (wrestling final; cheerleading)

Wrestling 

Our wrestling team competed at regionals on March 5th and 6th and took 4th place as a team. The following athletes attended, competed in the weight classes in parentheses, and earned the following places:
Christian Keller (126)- 2nd
Oran Huff (132)- 1st
Jaden Gardner(138)- 4th
David Gardner(145) – 2nd
Lochlan Osborne (152) – did not place
Logan Odell(160)- 4th
Wyatt Bashor(182)- did not place
Garrett Roberts (285)- 4th

The following athletes competed at state on March 12th in Pueblo, CO.
Oran Huff
David Gardner
Christian Keller
 

Huff won( a 3-2 decision) over undefeated Rye senior Michael Atencio in the 132-pound title bout. With the victory, Huff added his name to a short and exclusive list — three-time state champions in Colorado high school wrestling history.

Huff competes in Class 2A 132-pound championship match, the state’s smallest classification. The only way to compete in that category is to face the stiffest competition possible. Michael Atencio also entered the Friday night with two titles to his name, which means that this is the second time Huff defeated a two-time champion in a state tournament title match.

The Lions team finished seventh in the 2A team scoring with just three wrestlers. David Gardner placed third at 145 pounds, and Christian Keller placed fifth at 126 pounds.

Boys Basketball – Finished the regular season 17th in the 2A classification. Lost in the first round at state against Monte Vista 52-59. (see separate article summarizing the SEASON)
Coaches include Jahmiel McLawrence- Varsity, Tyler Cronkite- Junior Varsity, Mark Roberts, C-Team and Assistant Coach Ryan Bant-Cogburn. 
 
Girls Basketball – Class 2A. == Lyons returned with three seniors who started the last two or three seasons. That group includes: forward Hannah Schweiger anchoring the middle of the floor, two-time all-conference player Avery Joy, and senior point guard Jazmyn Enny. == Lyons’ Tucker Mills led her team in scoring as a sophomore. Mills scored 25 and 23 in back-to-back games this season.== They finished the regular season 6-5 with league games.

Lyons Hi Sch Cheerleaders 3/21CHEERLEADING: State competition is Friday March 26, in Colorado Springs at the Broadmoor World Arena.
